This is one of my favorite episodes so far. I like how Flowsik is aware of how Korean rap is perceived by non-korean speakers, and even how his music is perceived by other Koreans. It was clear Dumb wasn't trying to go into the direction the conversation was going in at 33:00, but it's nice to know Flow and Rek are aware of such things and willing to express the mimicking issue instead of pushing it under the rug. Much respect and can't wait to see what Flow puts out next.

@Savette Yeah, I noticed that, too. Dumb totally took it before it dropped. And Jay’s face looked like , “What???” for a few seconds. Lol He should have just let Flow keep it 💯. 🤷🏻♀️ People who actually know the culture because it is their culture are going to know the difference anyway.

20:42 Thank you Flowsik!! This is the thing some kpop fans don't understand when it comes to the difference in being an idol rapper and a (artist) rapper. Lyricism is the bare bones of HipHop. Pop culture can be and is very limiting for actual rap lyricists. These rappers make full albums with full length tracks, on the regular. The artistry of rap shouldn't be confined to a catchy rap line and that's it. Js Damn Birdman stays being trash lol

There are some good idol rappers that are limited by their labels and I think that sucks. I wish ppl also realized that just because some underground rappers aren't idol rappers doesn't make them authentic hip hop either.
@NONPOINT4205 жыл бұрын
@@lytebeem3731 ..... not sure what that has to do with my comment but ok
@lytebeem37315 жыл бұрын
@@NONPOINT420 it was an extension of what you were saying. I was saying that the idol community feels as if putting words together is hip hop and its not. If they actually allowed some idols (a few) to express themselves, we could really see what they're made of. And to go off of what sik said some of the "rappers" especially the younger ones I've seen on school rapper and other shows. They think clothes make them hip hop and it doesn't.

5:30 - Keystyling is my shit. Yahoo! Chats had a lot of good ones. I used to print off the best rhymes and study them. 32:30 There has been rap/pop collabs increasing since at least 2017. SM making the biggest move with Million Market. I credit Dean & AOMG for that personally & are some of my fav collabs with kpop (s/o to Nafla too and respectfully YG). 34:00 Everything is a copy. It's just how well folks do it that matters these days. RN not even the quality matters to most listeners. It used to be hard to look past it. So many people worldwide do it just "a thing" now. 42:10 People who have never lived in other environments- race, income, language, etc, will never understand this concept of "code-switching" and trying to co-exist with 2+ cultures. 48:45 I noticed a large number of Korean artist w/o music on IG stories. I had no idea it was blocked.....

I hate seeing or hearing rappers that copy another artist and trying to put it out like they are authentic when it isn't. Flowsik is unique his low deep voice is soothing and he stands out like other artist Jessi , Dok2 , Jay Park when you hear them you know who it is by voice automatically. I like listening to authentic Flowsik puberty and his voice always change True like New York we talk and act differently me and my family are loud, have deep voices, I speak fast , and walk fast I wear sweats or joggers and timberland boots half the time I still have my new York accent and somewhat still show my native New Yorker roots like being from up North and being in the South of a state or country your slang and use of words are different and people don't always understand what you mean or you come off as rude or mean. I'm from the projects of new York so I know struggle and change , I've moved and lived in Queens with my mom (Bronx, Harlem, New Jersey and Philly with my dad) Now down south with my mom, sisters and maternal grandmother, but I'm away from what I'm used to and comfortable with. I missed my family members passing and not being able to be there. I grew up around hip hop Reggae and reggaeton but my family is open minded. I enjoy real authentic things and moving. You can't please everybody, and not everyone will understand your music and what you mean.
