I know this is an old video, but the Furby Boom app actually communicates with the toy using high-frequency tones emitted from the device speaker; the Furby listens for these tones because they are actually data signals encoded as sound waves. You are right when you said that the "app makes clicking noises" to make the Furby move and talk. It sounds neat in theory, but it is definitely prone to more communication failures than traditional wireless technology (considering the placement of the speakers and the fidelity of the "data sounds" when they reach the Furby's microphone; the sounds that the Furby makes may also interfere). I guess this was done to avoid using a Bluetooth component which would make the toy more expensive.

Yeah you're right, the Furby Connect used bluetooth but it was much more expensive. I've recently done some videos on how these Furbys communicate, including my most recent one which is all about the 2012, Boom, Furbacca and Crystal series which all use high frequency.

man this is nostalgic. i remember as a kid whenever my sister liked a toy i would like it too even though she only liked girly toys and we had a phase where we loved furbys and we used to buy furbys and play this app. i remember you could make your furby sing music with it and at one point back then there was a mcdonalds furby toy and we bought like 5. i was like 6-7 at the time

@@Silvolf It is Sad, but the app was never removed, It was Simply Privated, If you have an old IOS device, you can still get it, You at least should be able to get it, it can depend. There used to be redirects that would read direct you to the play store where it Still Exists, But since it's private you Can no longer access it without the redirect, I don't think the redirect This is up anymore sadly, But the Ios option still exists!

I owned a peacock Furby Boom and so is my cousin. However, mine's battery compartment have corrosion and my cousin's speaker broke if I remember. I hope my Furby still works if I get the battery compartment fixed and It's really sad that the app is gone. I remember playing it all the time when I was in pre-school age.

The beeping sound is what communicates with the furby. If the app makes a beeping sound, the furby makes one too to communicate and when the furby makes that beeping sound, your device will hear it. That’s why there is a delay when feeding it or showering it, but the furby connect is different. It doesn’t need the beep sounds because it has bluetooth. And with bluetooth, there is no delay making it instant
