His back-&-forth tests the Rider by making him question how many 'sons & daughters will it take for Rider to be 'Free' ?' The Hand was someone's son. He's Cyberneticaly Augmented King Arthur, President-King of the Invaded Planet (?) & the 1 to defeat Rider the 1st time he was Imprisoned inside the Labyrinth Prison. The Guru & the Architect/Narrator came up with the plan to convince Rider to stay with the Song. Arthur was my favorite boss but The Beat _ALWAYS_ makes me feel like you just killed a young human/puppy that was less then 0% threat to you. & then: *EVERYTHING ELSE!* ❤️‍🔥 _THIS GAME!_

"You can't win... You're alone..." If you recall the Voice's story, the Hand only managed to capture you the first time because he had an army with him. He's talking to himself here, because he realizes that this time, he's going to lose.

No. The Hand is talking to the Stranger who he believes is alone and fighting for nothing. He, on the other hand, has his family and home very close by. He has all the motivation in the world to fight as hard as possible to prevent this planet destroyer (or scout for a planet destroying army) from escaping his prison and snuffing out everything he values in his life. Your explanation is a decent interpretation but none of it is supported by all the visuals and dialogue in the fight about how he's fighting for something greater (family) and not just himself. Now my guess at the background story: an army of 100 at his back made little difference and it was his own drive to protect his loved ones that pushed him to defeat the Stranger the first time around. As designer of the prison, I believe the Voice put the Hand's son in there with him as a cold and calculated move to both motivate him and incentivize him not to lose.

Your theory is not one I've read about anywhere because it's not supported by anything that happens in the fight. Here is the dialogue in the fight: "I am fighting for something much greater than this. Can you imagine the strength that gives me? I doubt it. And so your fight ends here." (too much at stake, he will win) "I brought you to your knees once already. And I will do so again." (*The Hand* defeated him, not anyone else, and believes confidently he can do it again) "You're no match for me. Give up while you can." ( he implies here he defeated him rather easily before) "...when good men look away, evil prevails." (ties into his greater purpose message: can't lose, won't lose) "For my son, for all of us. I am bringing you back." (again, his message of i will/must win) "Surrender. You can't win." (while pointing his sword at the Stranger) "We built all of this. We prepared, invested so much." (there's no quit in him) "You can't win, Stranger. You have nothing to protect. Nothing to fight for." (again, he's addressing the Stranger insaying he can't win. The Hand is not talking to himself) "I will never give up, Stranger. The stakes are too high." (another line that lends no support to your claim he doubts himself) "You can't win... you're alone" (as he says this, he literally gestures right at the Stranger and initiates his most vicious and powerful barrage of attacks. Contrary to your claim, his armor is still powered up until the last blow of the fight. Look again carefully.) This is a good game with a nice twist that you're the actual villain but otherwise pretty straightforward bosses with clear motivations and themes in why they're fighting or why they were put in the prison to fight you. The actual depth of the story is in the theories that the Voice possibly designed this prison not to hold the Stranger, but to show him all aspects of humanity and reflections of the Stranger himself in order to sway him from his original programming of invasion/destruction and fight for good. Why can't they hold him forever? It's strongly implied that the Stranger is indestructible so it's simply only a matter of time. There's also the possibility that he learns, adapts and gets stronger after losses and victories, just like the player holding the controller, hence the prison/video game challenge will not hold for long. We also know he's part of a larger collective that invades planets, possibly as a scout, so holding him indefinitely is pointless if another Rider or an entire army will come, especially after noticing he's been gone for too long.

Adrien lovéra It has meaning. Think about it. There is a killing machine that wants to escape the prison you have put him into and he kicked your ass (for 3 stages). The hand doesnt care about his life anymore. He has to take you down, no matter what. This and his ultra combo in the last melee phase rapresent him getting desperate to take you down. Unfortunately his determination wasnt enough.

I've read a couple of theories that the Voice never designed the prison to permanently imprison the Stranger, having come to the realization that it was impossible, or pointless if he was simply a scout for a larger army invading in the future. Instead the prison's various areas and occupants are meant to represent aspects of both humanity and the Stranger, all working to influence him so he'll abandon his original destructive programming and fight on their side.

Just remember that the parry indicator tells you that the following attack CAN be parried, not WHEN you should hit the parry button. This video isn't a great example, but if you parry his whole combos, he has a bigger opening for a counter attack. With his shield, he's only susceptible to gunfire when he's using AoE attacks. The fight gets a lot easier when he throws his shield aside because you can constantly pepper him with gunfire, but just watch out for that delayed 3rd hit in his combo.
