I purchased my 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 390 cu inch 4 speed from Triangle Ford in East Liberty, PA. Color was burgundy with black interior. Purchase price was $2,882. Sold the car in 1966. Only great memories to reflect back on at 79 years old now. Your restoration brings back great memories of my "64". Great video! d

This car is "drop dead gorgeous". Perfect in every way, it being - in my opinion - the best body design of any Ford EVER. It is bone stock, which makes it that much more appealing. The only thing I would change - and it's ultra minor and would take less than 1 minute to swap - would be to change the chrome aftermarket air breather back to the stock one (that came from the factory). It's so minor it's really not even worth mentioning, but that's just me. The car reminds me so much of our family car in '64. Ours was a 4 dr. hardtop, solid black as well, with the 390 4v coupled with a Cruise-o-Matic automatic tranny. It had a medium grey interior. There was only 1 other family in our small town that had a car that surpassed ours in beauty; a '64 4 dr. hardtop (black as well) Galaxie 500 XL with a cream white interior and the 390 4v. A 4 dr. with bucket seats was something to behold! I love this car, I really mean it. 🥰

The chrome air breather cap was installed on all 427 cars after 4/1/1963 (regardless if the car came with the optional chrome dress-up kit or not), reference Ford part number C3AE-6766-A. Changing the cap to black would be altering the original factory appearance.

My mind is made up. I’m 38 years old and I’m gonna buy a 64 Galaxie 😎👍. I’ve had old trucks before but never a classic car. That is going to change soon. Plus a 64 Galaxie isn’t something you see everyday. It’s not exciting to see a mustang, nova, Chevelle, Camaro, and so on. But when a 64 Ford goes down the road it’s something special !

I have a beautiful 63 1/2 that was garaged and covered for years. Just picked it up last year. Brakes ks and bearings were stuck so thats why it was parked. Neighbor told me for 20 yrs he was going to fix it. never did so called me and said it was for sale. Runs great now and fun to drive. I also put new fuel tank in it. Interior is like new and 80k miles on it

@@olallaeddy Thanks for the reply....I remember the the Fender 390 Badging, the Ford Emblem Hood Pull, and the Speaker in the Back Seat Rests, that all coincide with a '63, so maybe my old man just told me it was a '64 because I was born in "64? IDK...That's why I asked if a late '63 could be registered as a '64 but it seems like it would be the other way around with an early '64 being registered as a '63....

what was the difference between 64 ford galaxie 500 and the xl? don't know the motor size but it was my favourite car that i've owned.
@TwoGuysandaRide3 ай бұрын
Differences between the Galaxie 500XL and the 500 that I am aware of: 1) Bucket seats (as opposed to bench) 2) Back seat is bucket-ish, with that fancy radio speaker grille in the middle 3) Center console 4) Courtesy lights moved to the doors 5) XL designations on fender trim and below trunk lid 6) XL emblem on steering wheel hub 7) XL emblem on glove box door 8) XL designations on rear quarter panel trim 9) Upgraded door panels 10) Upgraded window crank handles 11) Upgraded floor pedals

Can anybody answer this question? My old man had a Maroon Galaxie 500 Fastback with the T-bird valve covered 390/4V. I remember it was a '64 because it was the same age as me, and the car made quite an impression. I also remember that the hood opened by lifting the Ford Emblem in the center of the Grille like I've seen on the 1963. I Know I'm Not Wrong - can anybody explain??

@@TwoGuysandaRide Cool, my oldest brother had an '63 Impala SS 327 too. So many Cool cars back before the '73 gas crisis, me and my best friend were car crazy! There was an old junkyard we would sneak into that was loaded with Hudson's, Imperials, and a row of Packard's. I used to get High from the smell of dry rotted tires, oil, and rust - grown up's thought it was an eyesore, but it was a wonderland to me with all those Cormorants lining the side street....
@EricMagayne7 ай бұрын
Only the 1963 Full-size Ford had the hood release using the Ford emblem (as opposed to the 1964 models), so your dad's car was certainly a '63. The "Thunderbird 390" was available in 1963, so it checks out.

The shifter knob is incorrect,it is for a console shifter. The correct knob for a non console four speed was a more rounded truck type knob. Probably stripped out and was replaced years ago. I have had a 64 identical to yours but a 500 r code. I also have a1953 ford 300 q code 427 in Wimbledon white and fawn interior .
