Well, that one’s an absolute gem. I’m an MG fan here in the US, and have owned a Midget for going on 30 years. The A is one of my favorite MG models, and this one looks superb!

When I was born in 1963 my late father drove an MGA hardtop with the B series engine. Its registration number was YYK 30. My parents always maintained that it was a firm favourite which had to be traded in for a Jag Mark 2 due to a growing family. Subsequently my father bought my mother an MGB GT new in August 1972. Lovely simple cars.

Absolutely stunning. Great engine. Really suits the Teeedy look. BMC, British Leyland, Austin Rover, Rover, MG Rover, when they got it right it was fabulous, when they didn't it was a real shambles.

That car looked an awful lot of fun and such a good colour for it too. It's nice that you mentioned Bill Boddy (WB) as he's always (along with Jenks, of course) been a motoring hero of mine. I recall that he was also very fond of the VW Beetle too.

A beautiful timeless design classic, so nice that every home should have one. Seriously though what a car. Obviously back in those days theft from the car was not considered too much and is arguably still the case with open toppers. I still want one though. listening to the 'light' channel on longwave (1500 meters if I recall correctly). AM wireless sound radio. Why was I born so many years later. Many thanks for sharing, another top job Matt.

What a gorgeous car indeed. I am rather surprised to see a very nicely and carefully modified car with the regular A grill. The design of that grill had a flaw, in that it moved aie up and around the radiator, which could lead to overheating. Twin Cam cars had a different unit with vertical bars that flowed air much better. Thete was a run of SOHC cars that were fitted with that Twin Cam grill. It made a huge difference.

MGA - simple and elegant. I think you're right: they're often overlooked. One thinks "it's just an old car" but everything i see one I realise how pretty they are, and this video shows they're competent sports cars too!

Nostalgia by the tank full, when UK Ltd. built cars that were world beating, the A coming out when it was still export or go bust. Dad always went misty eyed whenever one roared past our MM, he did the same when a Triumph Speed Twin or a Norton overtook. His old Douglas flat tank languishing at the back of the garage.

I drove an MGA Coupe last year. If you think the roadster is hard to enter, the hard-top is way worse. I'd love to find out how the open car compares, although from your video I think the driving experience is similar. I think I prefer the more vintage character of the A to the more well-known MGB.

I enjoyed your video but there are couple of niggles from a technical point of view. Firstly, it is really disconcerting when your speech doesn't match the video. Secondly, dropping short pieces of voice-over into the video for me doesn't work. If you're going to do that, do it just once. I am a long term subscriber to your channel and I think you are great but the technical side does occasionally let you down.
