My mate had one as his first car, an immaculate 1.4 Ghia, it was six years old in 2010 so it was quite a flash first car. It's still in his family and still immaculate ten years on. Loads of happy memories riding shotgun in that car 👍

Yes, I had an old f reg escort ghia in silver and rust, the boot wouldn't lock so you had to be careful what you left in the car but it never let me down over the winter with that brilliant heated front screen. I miss them on modern cars, last Ford I owned was a mk1 T reg focus. Loved it until the turbo management system went. Only done 40 odd thousand miles as well

Wouldn't call a 05 car old tbh. My first car was a 1990 Saab 900 but sold it before I had my license because it was so rusty. That was in last year. Now I have a 1989 Saab 900 and 1999 Saab 9-3. I've had a total of 7 Saabs between april 2019 and now. Only one of them was from the 2000s, from the year 2000. :D Newer cars are usually more boring.

I had a face lifted mark 6 and it was one of the most fun cars I’ve owned. It was a 58 plate Zetec Blue 1.4 so had a few extras thrown at it such as the Sony stereo and lowered suspension (typical of an end of line special edition). It handled really well and was quick enough. The only issues were the rear nearside wheel bearing needing to be replaced, the dashboard boot release stopped working and the bonnet pull came off in my hand which I replaced with a piece of wire. I replaced it when it was 7 years old and it had 56000 miles on the clock and it was still like new. Very fond memories of this car.

Got to say I love this review, your passion is amazing. Having had two Fiestas, an 02 Finesse and an 06 Zetec 3 doors I have a lot of respect for how cheap, practical and easy to work on they are. Always recommend the MK6. Few notes you may/may not know: remote central locking wasn't standard on all models, facelift model offers a feature to have the indicators flash up to 3 times with one touch, rear wiper comes on when you put it in reverse (not sure it's common), you can have the hazards flash all round when ABS becomes active to warn drivers behind. I'm sure there's more I've forgotten, I love these cars. Awesome to throw into corners, the turn in and handling I think are amazing. Nippy enough to be fun, slow enough to not kill yourself. You feel everything and really get to known the limits of the car, I put Toyo Proxes on mine all round, braided front brake lines and EBC Green stuff pads and discs on the front. Cheap, very fun car. Thanks for the vid.

I have over 210000 miles on the clock of my (Petrol) 2003 LX edition. I was imbetween cars and a cheap one popped up on my street, figured it would fill my car gap until I drove it to death. Years later it's still going, no big repairs and the most costly thing I've spent out on was 4 new tyres! Shame it's such a high milage, would loved to have spent some money on it and given it some love it deserves. Had quite a few cars over the years but this one is defiantly one of the special ones. Just don't tell anyone! haha

great review Matt. Nothing wrong with driving around in old cars. In recent years it has become fashionable for people to 'keep up with the Jones's' and get the biggest, newest, most fashionable car going, all on lease mind you. They would look down on someone driving a perfectly good little runaround like this Fiesta. Great for a learner/new driver. Cheap as chips and it won't matter if it gets a ding or bump here and there and in the meantime you can save the £300 per month you would otherwise be paying for a leased car, towards a deposit on a house. (that's what I tell my kids anyway)

I like it! I had an early Mk 3 Mondeo, which was a lovely car of the same era. Beautifully simple geometric design and handled very well. Alas, towards the end, it let in moisture and would go mouldy. Back then, the most mechanical work I could do was to steam clean the interior to get rid of the mould, which became a frequent thing to do. No garage wanted to even try to fix it! It was probably just a seal somewhere but it got chopped in for a Mk IV Mondeo. However, it wasn’t the same. Then I realised my dream and got the Rover (bye Mondeo!) and now I certainly can fix things!

This was my favourite of all Fiesta.. i had an X-reg Puma 1.7 which was hands down the most fun car to drive hands down, that 1.7 was a screamer and a joy to drive. These Fiestas definitely had the Puma driving DNA and really are fantastic little, loveable cars. When my indicator failed on my old Mk6.5 Zetec Blue (Loved loved loved that car, even hopping in and out of Mercs etc into it, was just so engaging) I replaced the whole module for a tenner drop in. It wasn’t actually the indicator that went on mine it was the trip button on the end so it was totally superfluous. The little fiesta deserved it though, owned from new for 9 years! Even when I didn’t need the low insurance or cheap costs I still got a sportier Fez to replace it. Only the need for a bigger car can tempt me away.

I was never a great Ford enthusiast, though I had a mate who loved them and used to make a bit of money doing them up and selling them on. as they were always easy to sell. My own feelings were confirmed with a weekend hire of a mk 4 Fiesta two decades back, which I remember being very bouncy and overly peppy - something a boy racer or a twokker would have loved, but not me. But this one seems to perform well enough, and to even look pretty good into the bargain. Not bad for a 15 year old car, even with the dings and little bits of rust. This is fairly typical of many a younger driver's first car and it's good that they get a review.

I agree with you on that judgement. I passed my test (at 22) last year and a Mk7 was my first car, car and insurance all in was under 2k and its genuinely a pleasure to drive. Had a hoot driving on the twisty roads around the new forest a few weeks ago (was more fun than the bike rides I had around there) an even on economy tyres and worn rear arms the car was lovely.

I'm currently buying a MK6 fiesta, 2004 1.25, it was an old ladies retirement car, it has only done 14.400 miles from new, yes that's right 14.400 miles, you sometimes hear of these things but never come across them, I just dropped lucky when my x type jag finally became uneconomical to repair and failed its MOT. So, I've been doing my research and low and behold you did these series of videos on this MK6, not a car I'm really interested in as a car ( I've been subscribed to your channel for some time now ) so I must have passed these videos by at the time, but as a long-term everyday driver it looks like I'm onto a winner, there is so much to like practically and economically about the fiesta and so far everything I've read and seen has praised them for what they are with not many down sides , you included , so glad I finally watch these videos, thanks for the content.

they are extremelly reliable. Mine is from 2003, I've bought it in 2005. It's 2021, and the only not normal issue it ever had was a burnt coilpack which i've changed. Everything (except the timing belt and front brake pads) still original and extremelly efficient. May not be the racer, does 170 km\h in a straight line... Its done 75k miles. Apart from the usual spring/ battery replacements, brake pads, timing belt in 2017, only had one major issue with it in 2018 when it needed a lambda sensor, new exhaust and exhaust heatshield. Its just passed its MOT and to my surprise It still doesn't need new brake discs (Its still on OEM discs). Great little car. PS- the steering wheel isn't leather, its molded plastic.

I really like this Fiesta. Front fascia reminds me of the Transit Connect, dash of the 2000 Ford Focus, as well as the taillamps from the Focus 3 & 5 door. I am still baffled by power front windows while in the US we have full power windows, I do not understand why. This definitely would make a great foul weather vehicle to utilise, while keeping the rest of your fleet from dreaded rust. Definitely would go to an a/c specialist to inspect why no a/c; definitely will help even on cool, damp days to keep the windscreen and side windows free of mist. I don't think we ever got heat front windscreen except decades ago on Ford vehicles, since I believe what Ford used interfered with safe viewing out the windshield. And I do know certain GM vehicles, notably Cadillac, used heated windscreen for a while. I think it is vital in climates like yours in the UK 🇬🇧 as well as cold regions throughout the US. Great video as always!

I've not really had too many cars, only passed my test in 2016. Been through a Corsa and Punto Grandè. By far the fiesta has been the most enjoyable to drive, even if mine has a few issues with reliability. Mine is the slightly newer facelift mk6.5 with the 1.4 diesel, would've preferred petrol as they are alot cheaper to fix than these common rail nightmares as this has left me phoning for recovery more than once, but still not wanting to desperately get rid of it, but if anything find a petrol version.

These fiesta's are amazing! I have a facelifted 2006 (56) Ford Fiesta with a Freedom package on it. They are amazing cars, such great performance for the city, urban and motorway driving. The space in them are great, I can fit my family in it perfectly with such great space even for a 3 door which I have hehe. Mine is a 1.25 and has such wicked power to them. Granted there are a few dents, a bad dent on the wheel arch and scratches. But considering nearly hitting 140K miles, it runs amazing, everything is solid and everything works great. Cannot complain at all. I can guarantee I will still have the car after finishing Uni haha :D

Best car in it's class. No idea about the patented windshield, but my grandfathers '95 Renault Safrane V6 had a heated windscreen. Think it's free to use by everybody. Great video Matt.

I have Ford Fiesta mark 6 2009, looks like this one just with slightly different headlights and dashboard. 1.4 Duratec engine with 154k kilometers. The car is amazing. They have pretty good rust resistance too. I see them a lot in my city and I have yet to see a rusted one despite some being over 20 years old.

This was a great era of Fiesta. A lot of fun to drive and very easy too. You're right. That's Zetec trim there judging by the alloys. I still preferred the shape of the previous one but this was a great evolution

Big fan of the Fiesta series! I have a Mazda 2 DE built on the Ford Global B-car platform that was used on the sixth generation Fiesta, it's a fantastic run-around and a great commuter car! Also shares quite a few parts with the Fiesta so it's cheap to maintain (always a bonus :)).

I was looking for a 2nd car and the mk6 happens to be my favourite shape fiesta, had my 58 plate zetec S for 3 years now and a pleasure to drive. Obviously not the most refined but great fun.

As the owner of a 56-plate mk3 Mondeo, previously a T-plate mk1 Focus, I am sold on this generation of Fords. They're genuinely very good. Favourite dash layout & interior is the mk1 Focus, but that's of course personal preference. The Quickclear heated front windscreen was on the Focus aswell, and it's an option that I would sorely miss if I didn't have it. Half of the other electric gubbins I could do without, but not that one. Not willingly, anyway.

Well done Matt. This looks fantastic! Besides the long lasting cambelt which as you say, is not an easy job to change, this car has a drive (fan) belt which is impossible to get at. This was another problem on the one my Brother left here. That same Brother had the ST version of this car for a couple of years and I got to drive it for a day on the hilly, twisty roads of The Sperrins. What a beast -hills and corners just didn't exist with its power and handling, and I've never seen so much low down torque in a petrol engine.

I still have my mk6 1.25. I got it new in 06 15 years later I still have it, i don't know if I'm in love with it or just boring lol it does everything well o think why do I need to change it as I only do short journeys. It's only done 37k miles in that time too.

I've had Fiestas for 8 years, mk3, mk5, mk6 and mk 7! As of last week though for the first time in my driving career I no longer have a Fiesta! Always fantastic cars, very reliable, very good handling. I got tired of the rust though and they started to feel abit boring. I now have a Volvo C70, very powerful and comfortable but still.. abit boring haha.

I much prefer this era of fiesta to the one that came afterwards. Had one of the newer ones as a courtesy car for a week. It was a 1 litre or something, it was a piece of crap. But this generation and the earlier ones were not bad cars for a new driver. Nice work reviving it, well done. If I had the time I'd love to do that kind of thing for people that need a cheap car!

It's my first car and I love it (2003 model so pre-remod I guess), I wish I can save it as long as I can. Even my friends who came into told me they were surprised how good it looks inside and how comfortable it is for a 18 years old car. The only negative point is the autoradio, I'm going to change it but it's going to be hard 😁 That's a very good presentation of this car you did here. Sorry if my English is not so good, I m french ! And it's weird to see the wheel in the right in my car 😁

Had one of these as my first car. Review is pretty much spot on with what I thought of the car. Mine did have a common issue of rainwater leaking past the washer jets on the bonnet and ending up around the HT Leads. Sorted it out eventually but it meant it used to misfire if you gave it any real load

Its a 2005 1.4 Zetec, dunno if face-lift, dunno if the timing belt has ever been done tho..and it's on 101K miles...I would assume it had been done at some point given how this car was maintained so well over the years but don't have the service history..just can tell its been well looked after, is there any way to check I it has been done ? Thanks.
