Hey I know Brian don't check the comments and I couldn't email yall but this isn't a pressing issue But... I make my own furled florocarbon leaders by hand and THEY DO WORK FOR STEAMER FLY FISHING.... not only are they close to unbreakable but they turn over really well. I run droppers and large streamers with them as well but taper down my tippet like normal folks do and they do thr job and lately have not lost a fish especially in streamer fishing. I love y'all knowledge tho and nothing buy love and respect to you Brian!

Great info as usual. I have been wondering to properly attach tippet to furled leaders so that physics is working for me and not against.

"WOWZER " I've never seen that knot before 🤯 easy peacy,the only difference that I use is instead of super glue,I use UV knot sense by loon on all my knots makes a great smooth transition between the knots,tight lines & bent rods

Thanks for watching. We use the UV Knot Sense as well but Glue works better for this particular application.

Question , my hands don't work like they use to 8 surgeries on them make it a little difficult to tie knots so can I use a Knot tying tool to make the connection ?

after changing flies/tippet over time you will likely start cutting into that 3x connector piece - when this happens do you just snell another 3x section to the furled leader and cut off the old as if it were the tippet ring?
@Madriveroutfitters Жыл бұрын
Think he says here to tie a perfection loop in the connector and loop-to-loop. Feel free to call him or e-mail him at the shop if any further questions.

But does Brian file the little barb off of the paperclip when he makes his knot tying tool?
@Madriveroutfitters3 жыл бұрын
If you use good paperclips you don't have to!

Furled leader looks thicker and more visible than mono leader. Could it potentially "line" the fish?
@Madriveroutfitters6 ай бұрын
@@TheJohnlie yes, all true. Just don’t show it to them.

Brian, I really appreciate the videos but I have a question on this one specifically. It looks like the tippet ring is attached to the leader using a girth hitch. If I'm correct in that, it should be easy enough to remove the tippet ring by opening the hitch and just removing the ring. I do this on all the furled leaders I build so I was kind of surprised when I saw the word "Cut" (yikes!) since it's a much smaller connection when you just use the thread loop and tie tippet onto it with a clinch knot. Let me know if I didn't explain clearly, or if I've misunderstood something.

wouldn't a double-uni knot work to attach the tippet as well?

What size mug to use for the connector piece? I didn’t hear you mention that…
@Madriveroutfitters2 жыл бұрын
Check at 10:18 or so. He mentions he's using 3X on this video but also that it may vary depending on the brand.

Could you also use a nail knot instead of a snell knot?
@Madriveroutfitters3 жыл бұрын
Yes...you could.

Hey Brian, got a question for you, do you think that a shorb loop has the samd effect as a tippet ring? And if so is it a step in the right direction, the same or worse.

Also, since this was a bit of a Q&A, the issue of curly leader or curly tippet. How to straighten it. Years ago I heard someone advise to keep inner tube rubber with you. I always have. Squeeze the rubber tight and run the line through it. It really works. You have any other advice?
