repost of what this guy said on other furminator vids. AF M 2 years ago As a warning, furminators have blade in it (nothing that will cut your cat) but it will keep puling hair out until there's nothing left. You need to get a feel for when you've removed the undercoat (fluffy stuff) and stop before stripping too much top coat. Also run the furminator along your bare arm first, it won't feel too good. This will give you a feel for how lightly you want to brush the cat, if you pull the brush up at a slight angle it won't run over their skin as much and will still remove plenty of undercoat. Cats have very thin skin and it's easy to give them brush burn if used too hard. Brush burn is a sort of rash, you can part the fur and see red skin with the stripes (in the direction it was brushed) its painful for the cats and there's not much to be done about it other than wait for it to heal. And it will make the cat less likely to want to be brushed in the future. Read instruction carefully. Some people advice to use it maximum once a month.

Very good point! We actually only use it around their shedding season, which totals to about 3-5 times a year. I would definitely recommend using it for about 10 minutes max each time, minimal fur comes off after that, and the cat might start getting annoyed already.

Jacob Moore thank you! I was worried that my cat was losing her fur. It never stopped coming out with the Furminator. I had no idea there’s a point where I needed to stop.

Thanks for doing this review - another thing I have found with this furminator type comb is it takes hair off of fabric - curtains, sofa and carpets. It is excellent for getting hair off of things as well as animals!! Extra bonus!!

Very true! We actually used it on one of our reading chairs where the cats love sleeping on. Cleaned it right off :)

The furminator is supposed to be used in long strokes!!!! If you use it in the same spot for too long it has been known to irritate the skin and leave a razor burn of sorta. This tool works great for cats but if you have a dog like a husky, where they have two different TYPES of coat (under coat and the guard hairs) the furminator will damage the top coat, pull and break the hairs. Just fyi. Another great tool you can use is an undercoat rake. Not the ones that look like actual rakes but the ones that look like little hooks. Those work amazing for long haired cats and floofy dogs.

Good to know! Thanks for the heads up :) We use it 3 times a year if even that. Thankfully we never ran into those issues a lot of people been complaining about, which is topcoat damage.

@@carieguthrum2055 🤗 thanks for reading my comment. You guys are fine. Fluffy kitties like yours shouldn't feel the negative affects of the furminator. I just like leaving information around for others who read the comments, just in case.

This is great product. One of my cats loves it but the other one needs a little persuasion. It really takes the fur off.

How much the price
@carieguthrum20554 жыл бұрын
I included a link in the vid description where you can find the same one we used :) They usually cost around $30.00. Be careful when you find any selling for cheaper than that, there are a lot of fake Furmintors that do not work well at all.

Will this work on long haired cats? I heard it just pulls out the fur.

There is a version for long hair and the cat version is different than the dog one.

I asked this question to the official furminator company, but I can't get an answer for a month. Many people think that furminator is a comb for combing wool. But the furminator is not a classic comb. Classic combs do not have sharp blades and do not cut the hair of dogs, well, or people. Your furminator cuts the wool because it has a sharp base. How would you comment on this misconception? Do you want to warn millions of people not to treat the furminator like a classic comb? Do you want to write on your product that the furminator can not be used for combing wool, because the furminator is in fact actually a mechanical machine for cutting wool?

That’s not shedding. You are shearing the cats. Furminator has a blade that shears the fur like when you shear a sheep. Yeah it will continue to shear as long as you keep doing it.
