Interesting, I didn't think you could put a top coat over wax, I didn't think it would adhere, I'll have to look into this, I like the way this looks...

Usually, you can't put a topcoat over wax. Dixie Belles Best dang wax is water-based so it okay. It dries After a few days. I don’t use this wax to seal pieces, though. I use it mainly To enhance details. The next time I use it, I will be sure that I give this information. Sorry about the confusion.

I actually like the piece to begin with. Traditional is never ever outdated, some people prefer classic looking pieces that never "go out of style". I like the beginning look better.

I agree with you that there was nothing wrong with the style to begin. The only thing I didn't like was those knobs. That’s just my personal taste. This piece was damaged and worn out on the top though, so it needed a refresh.

Thank you, Jade! No, you do not need to topcoat over wax. Dixie Belles was is water-based. It's one of the only ones I have seen that are water-based. So you can topcoat it once it’s dry. I usually only use their wax for details. There is no need to topcoat over All other waxes. I’m so glad you mentioned this because I need to start saying it in my videos. Thank you!

Amy, I would like to get your professional opinion. I just bought a old Bombay dresser and the hardware was nailed in. I'm afraid to pull out the nails, maybe damaging the holes or nails. What would you suggest for paint blending without removing the hardware? Never tried before, I'm nervous about trying. Any advice, would be appreciated. Thanks, Amy.

Hi Andrea, I’m so sorry to Comment back so many days later. Do you have slick stick? It’s an adhesive primer by Dixie Belle. You could apply slick stick to your hardware while it’s on the piece. I’ve done that a few times and it works well! Then paint as you would and seal.

No, If you’re using regular clear wax to seal you buff it and It hardens and cures after time. If you’re using Dixie Belle’s best dang wax, it’s water-based, so when you’re using it on details, you can use a sealer right over it. I believe that’s one of the only water-based sealer’s on the market.

I just saw on Dixie Belle’s channel you shouldn’t wash Slick Stick down the drain. How do you clean your brush after using it?

According to the Dixie Belle terms of use it's okay to wash Your brush with warm water and soap when you’re using slick stick but not to pour an Excessive amount down the drain. So if I was pouring my slick stick into a separate container and I wanted to clean that container, I would not pour it down the drain.
