I love that you let the top of this piece do what it did, and you didn't fight it. I've worked with wood long enough to know that it's unpredictable and can be willful, but that's what makes it beautiful and unique. Oh Karon it doesn't have to be perfect ... I don't worry about brush strokes at all. It's all just part of the character of the piece. Just get stuck in and have a go :)

I make my own stencils now using my Cricut, but there are a few Aussie brands. My Stencil Lady and Gemini Creative spring to mind :)

Transfers I don't use much because I find pieces take a lot longer to sell, but my favourite transfers are ReDesign with Prima. They burnish really well plus they have a lined back which makes it easier to cut straight etc. Their designs are also gorgeous. I use decoupage more often than transfers. Check out Rocycled (they have stockists in AU) ... they're really good quality and value for money
