Is it essential to use sandpaper?. I have a new table but want to put protective polish on it as it was made by a local carpenter with minimal polish.

@@nehakhatri8379 if you are looking to do a long term fix, then it's essential to sand. Sanding get rid of any surface finish and roughs up the surface so the polish holds better.
