In fact one could argue that Kaela DID have to stop. Manuela got inside position on that disc. If Kaela had made a late bid, she likely would have caused a dangerous play.

Anyway as I've said elsewhere, there's no way to play this sport without having moments like this. We need to get over legislating such plays out of existence. Accept that sometimes when you play a sport something freakish will happen and you might get wrecked. Sounds harsh; is reality.

The score shouldn't have been that close. The call that the Fury made at 1:57:47 was completely inexcusable. Apparently the Fury believe the people defending them aren't allowed to try hard. That ludicrous call resulted in an immediate score for the Fury. I'm glad Revolution was able to overcome it.

It's a Dangerous Play. Just read the rules and maybe the annotation. "Dangerous Play fouls can be called before an event to avoid a potential collision e.g. a defender runs/layouts in a way that an accident would occur if the offence were to continue." Or just imagen what would have happend, if both players would have jumped to the disc, like one did.
@joeled76602 жыл бұрын
@@sonabTV If that's really what the rules say now then I'm sorry to hear about it. I played Ultimate in the 80's and 90's. Apparently the game has been wimpified since then.
@ParhelionMedia2 жыл бұрын
@@sonabTV "an accident would occur if the offence were to continue." By this definition it was not dangerous. It doesn't say "if the offense were faster or could jump higher." Helton had no chance to get to that disc before Cardenas made the block. Let's think of it this way: Did Helton have a chance to arrive at the disc at the same moment Cardenas did if Cardenas had not made the bid? No. If Cardenas hadn't bid, Helton would have received the disc several moments later and several feet behind where the block was made. It's clear on replay that Helton was just late recognizing Cardenas had a play on that disc. Cardenas was tracking that disc before Helton even turned around. Helton didn't have to stop her jump, because she hadn't even started it yet when Cardenas was already in the air. When Cardenas touched the disc in the air Helton's toes are still on the ground with her hands out for a clap catch. Look at the replay and pause it the moment Cardenas touches the disc in the air. There's a pretty large gap between them. At most, Cardenas would have grazed Helton's fingertips after the block was made had Helton jumped higher and kept her hands out.
@sonabTV2 жыл бұрын
@@ParhelionMedia "Let's think of it this way" NO, lets not think it that way, because that's not how it works (in the wfdf rules, audl differs here). There is even a rule "Making a play for the disc is not a valid excuse for initiating contact with other players". They only put it in so players don't make this argument. Only for this argument, even so the argument has no reasoning in the rules. Wether or not you hit a disc, you are not allowed to jump dangerously into other players. I admit that it was not a 180 degree angle and she didn't really stop the play, but it is a dangerous play in my opinion.
@ParhelionMedia2 жыл бұрын
@@sonabTV What I’m saying is that Manu didn’t initiate contact, because she made the play before Helton ever could have gotten to that disc. She was in the air before Helton reacted to her defensive bid. Had Helton jumped higher and actually been closer to Manu, Helton would have been the one initiating contact because Manu jumped way before her. They both have equal right to the disc, but Manu simply made the play first. Neither player intended to initiate contact with the other, and Manu even says in the discussion she was moving to the side to avoid Helton. It’s a matter of timing in my view. I agree Manu made a more aggressive move but I don’t think it could have initiated contact or prevented Helton from making a better play than she did considering the timing and their respective positions on the field.

What a game!! I wonder how many point Walczak played in that game?! I would guess between 22.5 and 24.5 out of 27 (she came in the middle of a point on a injury sub). Embarrassing lack of self control, right? All I see is inner resentment and insecurity: we/they hate the fact that we/they care so much about, invested so much in something partially outside of their/our control, and know deep down, that even as world champs, all our insecurities are still there and that we are flawed... Spiking like that (she looked close to tears) reminds me of a person that got rich, chasing status, only to realise that life has passed them by and they are unhappy. Thankfully we have the dancing Colombianas as a fantastic, happy counter example!

What a bad contest on the foul @ 1:40:00
@daltonsteinkamp384 Жыл бұрын
I honestly don't think it was a foul. She barely puts her forearm on the Revo player's back. She just settles herself and barely pushes at all. The Revo player falls because she lays out after mistiming her jump.

Clean D by Manu! Weak call by Helton! Never dangerous! Manu had position on a bad throw! Who had the right to that space? Not being able to make a play that would *initiate contact* whilst out of position, is not the same as avoiding inevitable contact :( *insert stereotype about women's ultimate here*
