I honestly didn't like this. Pearl was so out of character. Like, I can see this happening with the Pearl from seasons 1-3, but not with the Pearl from then on, let alone with the Pearl that already got over Rose.

Actually, pearl never really got over rose it's gonna take her more than 2 years to get over something like that yes, she might have developed but I could see her doing something like that. She even lashed out on volleyball because the way she described pink was not the way that she knew her. Pearl, obviously still has feelings for pink. Well rose quartz in particular. She is just now learning how to deal with it, but that constant feeling is always gonna be with her soooo I could see her doing something like this, but at the end she would probably feel bad.

Same, somebody lock this crazy Pearl in an asylum and not let her near emotionally damaged gems like Spinel, I know Pearl has been through obsession and trauma but it’s no excuse to pull off what she just did to Spinel. Diamond control must mess a Pearl up so much that they become toxic towards others, so glad canon Pearl learned and knows better, kind of, even though when she and Pink Pearl/Volleyball fused she said “I didn’t” I know she wasn’t trying or planning to fuse with Volley but still, I don’t mind Pearl but I also cannot trust Pearl. Edit!: Actually never mind Pearl and Pink Pearl fusing was a mutual and consensual thing representing them both healing it was beautiful, while this fusion is basically the exact opposite.

@@AndromedaNull You're half right, but like this: She tried everything she could to stop the colonization, but since the other Diamonds didn't listen to her, she had to transform herself into someone that no one could ignore (Since if she started the rebellion as Pink Diamond, the Yellow and Blue Diamonds would capture and punish her without listening) and her intention was to scare every gem off the planet, but everything changed when she saw Garnet for the first time. She NEVER forced any Gem to be her allie, only turned Crystal Gem who sympathized with the cause (so much so that she didn't force Garnet to stay fused and join the war). She NEVER manipulated Pink Pearl/Volleyball to see the good side of her, it was Volley herself who saw that and as stated, she didn't mean to hurt her Pearl. Our Pearl was NEVER induced to fall in love with Pink Diamond, she fell in love simply because she did and she just didn't say anything, Rose never connected with that and just thought that her Pearl was loyal.

Honestly the look of the fusion here with spinel and pearl is a very interesting one specifically the fusions face. Every fusion we saw in the show has a face that is balanced and a mix of faces that add to the new character like opal or sardonyx all well balanced out faces. But with this fusion it’s the opposite pearl was clearly just using spinel to feed her obsession of pink/rose just as spinel was starting to get over pink and spinel only fused just so pearl would stop bothering her. So the fusions face is more dominated of pearls features while you can see spinels eyes to the side and as pearl is gleefully obsessing on “feeling pink” you see spinels eyes start to go wide and fearful and sad as everything she built was now collapsing and as a result the fusion becomes unstable as spinel starts to change back. The face alone and how it was created says a lot about pearls toxicity and the further damage she caused spinel for such a selfish reason almost like she did to garnet.

Every healthy fusion also has it's own personality like Stevonnie, Garnet, Sardonyx or Opal. Toxic fusions like Malachite or Bluebird don't have one and are rather a mixture of both parts or one gem is more dominant over the other and is in controll of the fusion. We see this here to. We can barely see Spinels influence in this fusion, maybe her arms, clothing and hairstyle, but Pearls mind and emotions are way more present than Spinels. As we learned from Garnet; in order to form a fusion, there needs to be balance.

God, Pearl is gross! The emotional manipulation she shows in this comic is disgusting. Spinel is hurting so much here, she’s so fragile, and yet Pearl pressures her into doing something she already said she wasn’t interested in. Trying to say it will make her feel better. Pearl just pushes until Spinel gives in. Then, she has the NERVE to get mad when Spinel infuses. Pearl doesn’t care about Spinel’s feels in this, she only cares about herself and tries to justify her actions with “she’s helping” TELL ME that isn’t textbook abuse! It gets even worse when you remember that Fusion is the show’s depiction of different kinds of relationships ( including sexual ones sex) And it’s not just in this fan comic that we see this behavior from Pearl. We see it in the original show many times. This is why I’ve been on the fence about whether Pearl is actually a good person, or even if she should be a role model for anyone. Of course all the gems have flaws, but Pearl’s is different from just a simple flaw.
