The way he describes walking into the S.F. Amoeba Records for the first time, is exactly how I felt too. Vinyl heaven.

omnicron701, awesome! I have fond memories of seeing Z-Trip many times back in the 90s. Bombshelter DJs were the shit back then in PHX.

i do the BPM thing too. I love this series, please give us more.
@envirosponsible9 жыл бұрын
This guy's collection makes the most sense to me in terms of how he has it organized. It's all about the BPM for me.
@JJMza9 жыл бұрын
+envirosponsible Where can you get that info? Or it's entirely based on knowing the structure yourself and knowing the track and done via manually (as far as physical copies go).
@envirosponsible9 жыл бұрын
+JJ, M. I use all digital files so Serato has the bpm for each song. It's harder with records but can be done with a stopwatch and calculator.
@jonathanwright29257 жыл бұрын
I had to figure the BPM out on my own WTF. I remember when they first were trying to put accurate BPM counters on mixers. Or ones you would have to tap to the beat and it would count them out off of that. Serato's pretty damn accurate unless it doubles the BPM on you. Which it loves doing that when you start dealing with music where the BPM shifts due to live drumming.

@StylistRhymist... Chill out man...this man has accomplished a lot in the world of djing. If his style doesn't suit your taste, so be it,but that doesn't mean he sucks. Uneasy listening was the type of mix tape I was putting together at the time and he brought that style to the masses which in turn helped me out. Much respect.

I know quite a few deep, deep record collectors (10,000+) and I've never heard of plastic sleeves being bad for the records. What you might be thinking of is original shrink wrap which is skin tight and couldn't possibly cause warping on cheaper presses when the plastic contracts. One thing I've noticed on brand new plastic sleeves is static which could potentially mess up your equipment, but slip mats have static too so that probably isn't a huge concern.

Very interesting blind sighted record pick, going straight to heaven. This guy has truly found his heaven. This pick was NOT a coincidence. Very profound moment despite the fact that the actual group and song are a bit mellow dramatic. I wonder if he drinks Monster Energy Drinks and if he is planning to release a t-shirt with the word DOPE on it? He actually was intent on setting up Monster to get sued by the Beastie Boys as he saw a residual, undisclosed amount from the law suit victory.
