The blown out neck can often be due to the way he sings/shouts in his music. Dave Grohl’s is similar - regularly using the muscles in their neck to force out air or add distortion to their sound can result in this extended look. Trumpet players who have been playing for a long time tend to experience the same thing. Whilst Corey’s style may be safer now, a lot of his vocals for the earlier Slipknot albums were just roar shouting, which sounds great but isn’t sustainable long term, and clearly all that effort has an effect.

I just love how real artists like Corey (and others) are much more whole and complete. He sings, makes music and writes. Just as other talented artists usually mix 2 or even 3 art types. I also love Corey is very authentic, he's not a fake celebrity. He's himself, and that's really hard to find.
