loved video but having never delt with glass i was lost on what your grinder is as well as what kiln you use i would like to make these
@pjsglasscreations35410 ай бұрын
A grinder would cost at least $150 and a kiln is $1000 minimum. I would suggest taking a beginner fused glass class before attempting to make these garden stakes. I have The Grinder II and I have 2 kilns- both Jen Ken.

This is a great video, thank you! Would you mind putting the metal you used for the stake in a link? I'm afraid to get the wrong kind and it will melt in the kiln YIKES!

How do you fuse the bracket with the opening to your bird when the stake is too long to put in the kiln? 22:05
@pjsglasscreations3546 ай бұрын
I just use a little scrap of the stake in the kiln. Don't use your long stake because it will ruin the stake.

Love those cute birds. Good job! What king of kin you have? And when you put them in the conventional oven what is the temperature ?
@pjsglasscreations354 Жыл бұрын
I have 2 kilns- both Jen Ken. One is small (15" interior) and the other is large (22" interior). I set the oven to 170º to dry the enamel.

I love your sweet birds! If you cut the sharp curve in the bird's body out first there will be more glass around it to stabilize it and you will have less breakage. BTW, which enamel did you use? I got that you bought them at AAE Glass, but which ones? Thanks!
@pjsglasscreations354 Жыл бұрын
It's EZ Fire enamel. It comes as a powder and you need to mix it with a silk screen medium.
@rongross7179 Жыл бұрын
I love these birds but I go to a studio to do my glass work and they probably won’t allow me to use a scrap piece of the rod in the kiln. Could I use a tightly rolled piece of thin fire instead? Thanks
@pjsglasscreations354 Жыл бұрын
Yes, that will work. Just make sure the rolled paper is at least as large as your rod.
@roseannarteaga4632 Жыл бұрын
These are adorable and so cheerful! For the bracket- are you putting the stake in the kiln too ?
@pjsglasscreations354 Жыл бұрын
I just use a small scrap piece of the stake as a placeholder while in the kiln. It will turn black and spall (black flakes) so you don't want to put your actual stake in.
@BlumenSusan Жыл бұрын
thank you for this!! is this what you get at home depot? Everbilt. 1/8 in. x 36 in. Plain Steel Cold Rolled Round Rod
@pjsglasscreations354 Жыл бұрын
No, I am just using a small piece of it in to act as a place holder. The rod will spall (turn black and flake).

Will you allow me to use your bird picture to advertise a class for this so I don't have to make class samples? I teach in a local community center and they would love these. Also what are the rods called?
@pjsglasscreations3548 ай бұрын
Yes, you can use the photo. Details on the rods are in the description of the video on KZbin.

AAE enamel? What is the full name? I work with both coe 90 and 96. Hopefully I can buy one enamel that will work on both glass? Thanks oh and where did you get dot pen?

It is call EZ fire enamel and is easy to work with. If you Google it, I’m sure it will let you know about 96 glass compatibility
