When I bought Duran Duran's first album in 1981, I assumed 'Sound of thunder' would be one of the singles, as it is so good. However, over 30 years later, I am now able to hear your own 'Night version' and it is superb. Thank you so much. I just wish Duran Duran had released a Night Version back in 1981!

sussexbearandpelt, There was a night version of Thunder, I have a 12" single of it, with the album version on the b-side. 45rpm. Still have my copy, purchased in London, in early 1982.

I can only imagine the night version, but I guess they would have re-recorded it as they did with Planet Earth and Girls On Film. I just wonder why they didn't do a Night Version of Careless Memories in that case? Never mind...I did ;)

RESQ85, I have night version 12" singles of Careless memories, Khanada, Sound of Thunder, and Anyone Out There. all 1981 releases. Late Bar, was the song that never had a night version.

@@earthtraderssaga Careless Memories 12" is basically the same as the 7". Khanda was a B - size. Sound of Thunder and Anyone Out There were only mixed as the album.

I'm speechless...it's that good. A remix/edit done the way it should be done and you can tell it's by someone who truly appreciates the band. I loved this song at 12 years old as much as I do now at 41. I love their first album for so many reasons but mainly because when it hit America it just sounded so cutting edge and sophisticated.

One of their best songs. I love this. I have been listening to your mixes and I've added many of them to my playlist and shared a few on FB. I've also subscribed. Looking forward to hearing more. 7tigerland said it best. This stuff sounds like authentic early mixes, but I think they have a more current sound as well. Easily playable in any club mixed into current songs.

If you look at the cover of the first Duran album, Planet Earth , Careless Memories and Sound of Thunder are all highlighted in red. Maybe indicating they were all going to be singles, after the flop of Careless Memories ( should never have been a single ) they went for a change in style and went for GOF .( Just a thought )

@modernoverdrive I use Ableton Live 8 and divide the track into four or five tracks, warp them all, phase one of them, compress any loops and and slightly boost the bass and rearrange into what I think goes best.
