Nancy… thank you so much for your video! It’s like you read my mind. I received my little pad last night and have mica powder and have been wondering what to do next. Your video is truly appreciated. Kathie from Mexico 👍👍👍🐢

Hi Nancy - super video! New to fusing. So, when capping, do you fire the mica first on the tile, or do you place a clear piece on top and do both the mica and capping in one firing?
@nancysala77695 жыл бұрын
Gail Kops hi Gail, I’m glad you found the video helpful. I fire all in one firing.

Thank you what was it you were putting on your stamps.
@nancysala77696 ай бұрын
It’s called VersaMark. It’s a sticky substance that allows the mica to adhere to the glass.

Do you have any problems with bubbles when capping the mica? I also thought about sifting clear powder over the top.
@nancysala7769 Жыл бұрын
I found that with the schedule I posted, you should not have problems with bubbles. You can sift clear on top also

Is Nancy saying she uses Versamark CLEAR? Is there a clear ink? Where can I find CLEAR? I’ve been in a couple of craft supply stores and find no clear ink pads. I looked online as well - no luck. Help please.
@nancysala77699 ай бұрын
Versamark is sold at all craft stores plus Joann’s also has it. With a quick search, I found it on Amazon. It’s normally used for embossing. It is clear.

I am Wondering about the mica it seems so dry and some Falls Off that doesn’t fuse. Should I use a medium With it to Paint with it.
@nancysala776911 ай бұрын
Well, the technique I showed in the video is a stamping technique. There are other techniques that you can mix the mice with a medium to paint with.

Is that firing schedule for 90 or 96?
@nancysala77692 жыл бұрын
90, but for 96 just change the annealing temp

Capping? Do you mean placing a clear piece of glass on top before firing? Or what is the concept of capping? Thanks.
@nancysala77697 жыл бұрын
Synder Soot yes capping is placing a piece of clear glass on top

One further question, Nancy....gonna give this a try. Could you share information on the slumping mold you used for that super dish? Thanks!

I'm confused... This is my first time seeing something like this... and the last part I did not understand ... what is next? Do you fire it? Do you heat gun it? How did you finish it off?
@nancysala77697 жыл бұрын
Judi Christopher You need to fused it in a kiln using the schedule at the end of the video

I thought mica powder always needed to be capped .
@nancysala77697 жыл бұрын
No, it doesn’t. When you leave it uncapped, only the thin layer that directly touches the glass, fuses to the glass. The rest washes away. I like to cap my Mica so that all Mica gets trapped between the layers.

Great video but holy moly!!! You have to be more careful with mica powder, don't shake it, it goes into your lung, hair, skin and can cause bad permanent issues. I was working 3 years with mica powders and now even if I touch it cause problem. Just let you know. :)
@nancysala77693 жыл бұрын
When I use mica, I use an N-95 mask. I did not use one for the video, because I wanted people to hear me. I did mention it in the video to always wear a mask. Thank you for your concern, but it was mentioned. I urge you to watch the video.
