Just reading the comments I can see many have praised your work, and let me join the choir. You are one of the best, if not the best, teachers I have ever had. It feels as if you're really there in front of me, and not in the internet a year and a half ago. I can really feel the passion and interest you place in even the most trivial and rudimentary exercises.Keep up the amazing work, and I know I speak for many when I say thank you!

I didn't notice if you had done so, but for me to select only the visible portion of the sphere from above, I had to go Select > Selection Filters and uncheck Select Through. Otherwise, I appreciate this video. I'm working on an irregular shape, which is somewhat difficult to find in Fusion. The majority of models have some kind of flat plane, from which it could be obvious to work. A flat bottom boat video , has a flat bottom and the top is basically flat, so it's hard to deal with the differences of an irregular shape. But this got me closer to what I'm trying to achieve. Also a tip, I signed up for GrabCab, and downloading models from there gave me some insight into how some things might be done, and I saw a motorcycle helmet with a visor, which I was able to assign clear polycarbonate and that made me so confident I can do what I want in F360! The future is coming on....

Hi Lars Thank you very much for this excellent video on sculpting. Until I watched your videos, I had no idea on how to use sculpting inside fusion 360 to do carving. Now that I got the basic idea on how to draw carved pieces using fusion 360, I am ready to experiment and start drawing/sculpting real carved pieces from pictures on old museum furniture pieces. My ultimate goal is to be able to reproduce old carved furniture pieces using fusion to sculpt and generate final CNC code using fusion CAM. Thanks again and look forward to more videos on sculpting and fusion 360 CAM. Ali

Thanks for making this Lars, your videos are my favourite resource on KZbin for learning fusion360. Just one suggestion - it would've been better for me (as an intermediate user who has used modelling quite a bit but know zero sculpting) to go quickly through the beginning of the video (the first 10 minutes where you put the canvasses of the spoon in could've been done in 2 minutes) and then add more content to the end of the video (where you do the actual sculpting). For example, how would you re-establish symmetry in the handle? And how would I cancel symmetry after making it (for example if I want to delete the green line)?

Great tutorial! Learning a lot from your videos. I have a question, sort of related to this. I made my sculpt pretty close to how I want it but I also need to add a flat piece to it. Is there any way to "wrap" it around the sculpt? I know I can do something similar with sheet-metal using text, but not the piece I want.

I'm little more than a beginner, definitely still learning; I'm trying to design a 3D printable toy car, as a gift for my car-mad grandson. I've imported a few canvases of cars into a drawing, & sculpted an almost suitable car body shape, but I get a few small 'wrinkles' in the surface, (some convex, some concave, some ripple back & forth. If it were a real world solid object, I'd use a combination of filler & abrasive paper.) In a virtual object in F360, how do I get rid of them? Ideally, I would like the surface to be smooth, is there a simple way to do that? (Or, on some other sculpting projects, put them in & control them - as in a human face - say, the lips, or brow furrows.) Hi spec i9 processor, (8 core,) with heaps pf RAM & 8gb graphics card.

That was one dodgy spoon. Would be nice to see things that come out less random by messing around with features and stick actually to what was planned to be achieved at the beginning. Even by taking much simpler task to fit 30min window but sticking to the goal. Not trying to be critic here but I so many times bump into a wall trying to create something that was supposed to be an easy task at the beginning. Thanks for the video regardless. I've learnt a lot.

Hey Lars, I'm wondering how to smooth out or blend two sculpted forms together. In particular I've made a sculpted form which is not entirely symmetric, added a bunch of features and cut outs to it, and then decided I liked the right side better than the left side. So I cut the body in half and did a copy on the half I liked. Now I've got two weird problems. I can't seem to make a joint that holds the two surfaces created by the split body so that they are flush/touching for the entire surface of that face. The other problem is I can't machine the part because of some discontinuities in the surface and edges caused by the two halfs of the mirror not lining up perfectly. Is there a way to smooth out or blend two organic looking forms that are joined at a flat face? Or that are intersecting when made into one body?

Following and checking for errors I thought it was going fine but every time after the 'bridge' I get "T Spline body failed to convert" when I click Finish Form. I have attempted it many times, it's always the same ( I'm getting really good at making the bowl :) ) and I've no idea how to fix this. If I go back to the form I don't know what to do and if I force it to go to Model my spoon (the entire Bodies tab) has disappeared. Can you suggest anything? edited to add: I made a deliberate error in the spoon bowl and when I tried to Finish Form I got the same message but returning to Form I could see where the problem was, it was shown in red. I will try the bridge again and turn off Symmetry before Finishing, maybe then it will show the error. > Well the above didn't tell me anything because the next attempt worked ok without error. Did I just do it right or did turning off symmetry help? I don't know. Got a cool spoon though. Thanks for the tutorials Lars, I really enjoy them :)

Hi Mary Lynch Thank you for watching! In my experience, it happens when edges intersect or fold on them self. Sounds like you are on the right path, thought :-) Good work. Best, Lars

Is there a video of yours about doing these repairs and more information about edges folding on themselves? This is a challenge for sure where adjusting the form is the easy part. Also what about joining forms I think I missed that. Thanks for your videos!

yes. when i press stop sculpt, it shows that there is an error in the geometry. apparently in the sections that we subdivided to attach the handle.
