Thank you, Lars, for yet another great video. I've said it before but I really appreciate these beginner/intermediate/advanced videos. Even if you cover stuff I already know, it reinforces my understanding of it. Your videos empower us to create and so things we weren't able to do before.

Thanks so much for your amazing videos, Lars! You are the best! I have a (many!) questions… @ 6:08 you noted you ‘scaled the model up’. How is that done? Do you have to change each and every dimension individually, or is there a more efficient way, i.e. select desired (if not ‘select all’) dimensions and multiply by -in this case- amount of shrinkage, say by a percentage? The other question I have is… Is the design of the cavity a manual process (in other words, rebuild a negative) or is there a possibility to *simply* add a separation line for the mold and F360 automatically creates the mold? I seems a manual process would be incredibly time-consuming, given all the dimensions, details, fillets, etc. are already there? Sorry for my beginner questions and if you already addressed this elsewhere. THANKS again!

For the scale you have in the "modify" le'u a scale option. There you can do all the scaling you want. Good luck

Hi Lars, thank you for the video. I use the component color swatch in the setting ( right lower corner) This activates a color bar above features belonging to a certain component. So one can easily group or change order later by moving them around.

I am accustomed to parametric 3D software such as 3ds max. Is there a SIMPLE STRAIGHT FORWARD way to set object sizing without using dimensions linked as sketches? I.e. create a cylinder 100mm diameter by 100mm tall. After the fact, say I need to change the height to 80mm? I know I can just push/pull it down 20mm, but is there a way to just select the cylinder and type in 80mm for the height? Same for the diameter / radius? Thank you! GREAT STRAIGHT FORWARD VIDEOS!! 😊

You can do that and more using parameters. Google search "Fusion create or edit parameters." You will find enough to get started there.

Many thanks for yet another great video. I often get into trouble when I forget to start a new component when I should have. (Or maybe I only realize later that I want a separate component.) I can just move the part to the correct component later, but what I would like to do is manipulate the timeline so that in the history the original sketch for the part gets created in the correct component. When I try that kind of thing I always seem to get the timeline hopelessly tangled with red and yellow warnings all over the place. Sometimes I end up having to start all over on a model that already has a lot of work in it. I wonder if you could address how to correct errors in component organization or how best to rearrange a poorly thought out component tree?

If you are using two monitors make sure you have Fusio360 window in the main one, otherwise you will be unable to rearrange the actions in the timeline. This bug took me a while to figure out.

One interesting and sometimes useful thing you can do is reorder items in the timeline. There are limitations that are not always clear. Might make a nice topic for a future video.

I don't understand what you did @5:16. The part you imported has no timeline, then suddenly it has all the many things used to make it. Is this what a .step file contains? I've never actually imported a file that has a timeline...they have all been STLs and I had to convert them to mesh to edit.

Good explanation of the timelines. For the toolbox example, I realize placing the pieces flat is intended to show timeline usage, but suggest doing another video on this same project using the ‘Arrange’ feature in Manufacturing. Just finished a project to cut and drill wood pieces using a cnc. The project was too big for manufacture in the original (was real slow). Workaround by saving the pieces to be cut as a ‘derived’ assembly. Opened the derived assembly and created a model in Manufacturing and then arranged the pieces side-by-side and added the cnc post processes. The master assembly is left unchanged and the real beauty is any changes to the master are drilled down to the manufacture model.

Lars love your videos but I need some help I bought the best CNc I could but unfortunately it’s only 15” x 15” and I have some work I need to do that is less then 15” wide but is almost 25” long could you go through the best methods (assuming dowel pins) to do this in fusion and go through how to set the origins and constraining tool paths for only doing half of the project in each setup if that makes sense. Keep up the great content

I have been using fusion for the past three years but still having lots of trouble with the timeline breaking. Everything online says to use Top Down approach. I can’t get used to that because the timeline always gets too complex, impossible to navigate, and slows down the computer. Also every single change to any previous steps ALWAYS breaks the timeline and Fusion is not very good at telling you exactly why it’s broken or helping you to fix it. Bottom up seems a lot more manageable. And it seems like you are using a bottom up approach, at least with the barstool. You designed each component in a separate file and have them linked into the master file. Is this not “bottom up” design? If not, how is this considered “Top Down”, or how is it different than “bottom up”?

the timeline does not record everything. For example, in the sculpt environment, it is like it does not exist. Also moving sketch objects is not recorded. Love your tutorials! I would love to see tutorial / explanation of the capture position command and its implication for xref files... if it has any, maybe I just really do not understand this at all :D

when setting up your assembly by modeling parts in place (and easily grounding them afterwards), wouldn't you have a hard time of navigating the model, as the part rotates around a datum point which is outside the parts' centroid? Or is athis only an issue with a mouse and not with a trackbal (as experts maybe should use)

It sounds so simple when you demonstrate why it did what it did, especially the cached geometry warning. However I must admit when I encountered this last week and I had to ask myself "Why is my sketch unhappy today even though I hadn't modified the sketch in weeks?" Now I know, and I thank you! :-)

Isn't it bad practice to ground components? Now it will not move relative to the assembly if you change de design of the legs. Also, why isn't the time line on the right with each function name visible? Scrubbing through icons really makes no sense. I guess fusion as to cut some corners not to hinder the sales of inventor?

Some of my projects when I use a tool say extrude, it has a value/number stored whenever I use it. EX. I click on a face and it moves 4mm. In other programs when I use a tool like extrude it will stay at zero until I enter a value.
