Alain Elineau pointed out a huge error in this video - directional light does cast shadow but only happens when renderer is set to OpenGL/Hardware Renderer. Sorry about the mix up guys. Will triple check next time. To be clear, all the lights with shadow option cast shadow but you may need to change your 3D renderer node to OpenGL/Hardware Renderer to get the shadows to be visible. Thanks Alain, I appreciate the call out.

Je vous remercie à nouveau. Faites en sorte qu'ils soient courts et doux et qu'ils arrivent. Les tutoriels, je veux dire. Je vous remercie. (Thank you again. Keep them short and sweet and coming. Tutorials, I mean. Thank you.)

Why is there a shadows option for lights that cast no shadows? Are there any conditions where they those adjustments would have an effect?

This baffles me too. Went through their manual almost three times before putting out the video. No explanation in there. Perhaps someone else might have an idea why.

@@madresolve The directional light does cast shadow, I use it often to create sun like shadows, better than spot light.

Thanks for the feedback. However, directional light does not cast shadows but does make the side of a 3d object darker without casting shadows on another object. Davinci resolve manual also confirms that the only light that casts shadows is the spotlight. Just to be sure too, I also checked again and it can confirm it doesn't cast shadows. I am available for further clarification. And thanks again. I could easily have made a mistake.

@@madresolve I confirm it does lol ... of course I cant send any screen copy here. But it doesnt show with software renderer, only with opengl renderer. I put it in my chain :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWmwiqiAird7arM

Wow! It actually does! I will refer to this comment trail in the comment and description of this video. I always did wonder why there was a shadow option on some of those lights. Thanks for this correction.
