ive been searching around for how fusion works, and almost every video is just some 7th grade explanation, finally i found a video like this!

i dont understand example problem 2. The energy is being released, so why not add the released one with the energy after the decay to find the energy before the decay? Because the energy before the decay is before the energy was released

Few sites like this video describe why iron atoms are the dead end of star core fusion to produce heavier atoms.

at 0:43 you mentioned that " the binding energy is the energy individual nucleons have released in order to bond". i think that is incorrect. what you said is true for the binding energy per nucleon. binding energy is the energy that holds the nucleus together which is proportional to the mass defect. binding energy can also be defined as the minimum energy that is required to separate the nucleons. please correct me if im wrong

I think what the video creator also is trying to say is that the binding energy isn't in the form of a spring (an analogy), with energy waiting to be released. Then we wouldn't have any use of these nuclear reactions... just mass transforming to energy in the form of bindings. If I understand it right the binding energy is always released as kinetic energy among the new created particles/molecules, released thermal energy (heat), which is the principle of an atomic power plant (heat creating electricity). So you have to think in three steps, mass -> binding energy -> kinetic energy at atom level (heat), not just "stored" binding energy doing nothing.

Me too I dont get it if the mass defect is converted into binding energy to hold the protons and nucleons together, then the reaction shouldnt be releasing energy at all, which we would use to create electricty. I am so confused. Have you understood what is going on?

@@AndyMasley dont listen to that clown, your vids are the holy grail of physics lectures. I was sick and missed an entire month of school and your videos have allowed me to finish this unit in a few days. Truly revolutionary
