Did you ever install it ? I have the same car and was wondering if you had to do a CANBUS upgrade to fix it from draining the car battery. Or is it really plug and play?

We’ve installed dozens. Join the RCD 330+ forum and check the FAQ for instructions for using an alternate power source so it doesn’t put a draw on the battery (which btw would take weeks to drain if left sitting undriven)

It should sound virtually the same.

I haven’t seen a car that it did that on yet. If yours currently shows these events the RCD 330 should as well but I haven’t came across a MK5/6 yet that does.

Not an issue. Join the RCD 330+ forum. One of the sticky posts shows how to power the radio up off the CAN passive wake up power source.

Hello, will this work in a 2008 Jetta S? Plug and play or do I need adapters, battery drain issue?? It works just as a Bluetooth radio if CarPlay is not plugged in via USB? When CarPlay is on can you lock the iPhone as to not drain it's battery? Does the front USB port charge the phone? Thank you and going to look up the forum now :)

You should do the CAN mod to avoid the battery drain issue. Yes on all your other questions. (You do need an antenna adapter but it’s almost always included) Your phone is charging when plugged in to the the USB and the ignition is ON (not when off)

@@FutrellAutowerks Thanksssssssss. Is the Can mod a part or must I do wiring? What is the exact model number that you guys install there? I'm seeing a few different versions and want to ensure it will work. This is what I'm looking at RCD330G 6RD 035 187B. I see the B, A, F, E versions, what is the difference? The main wiring harness in the 2008 will plug right in?

Good question for the forum members. The CAN wiring is something you do on the car side but it’s very simple.

You can get them on eBay. We stock them locally but we don’t ship. The prices have been going up. They are in the $225-275 price range. The older unit that can be hacked to run Android Auto goes for more. Just search RCD 330 + on eBay or AliExpress

Haven’t tested a car with it post install. The USB in some of the MK5/6 have is not compatible.

We’ve installed them in 05.5s all the way to 13. Most require antenna adapters. If trying to use with the factory camera that would require adapters. Even on our 06 TDI shop car we haven’t seen battery drain (it frequently sits undriven for several days)

No you’d need to downgrade your camera to aftermarket. (Lots of nice options out there but it’s a bit more work to swap it out)
