The conspiracy theory I heard is that they used that ploy to switch from real Sugar to HFCS when they reintroduced Classic Coke and most people didn't notice because "New Coke" was so horrible - not sure if that's true, but genius idea if it was.

brisk, in canada, back in 2018/19 had a promo where u can buy a can for $1.25 and get a code with a chance to win a DQ giftcard or other stuff, i spent like 30 bucks on drinks over the month and ended up with about $180 worth of DQ giftcards, that promo was so broken and payed out so much, Not like that these days, its all about the money money money.

Nah them wanting to make a crappier version of slurm is actually a good marketing tactic. They done it here in Scotland with our national drink Irn bru. Changed the sugar content and everyone hated it then brought out the old recipe at maybe 50 pence or a £1 more than what it used to be 😂😂
