So i love how much this show's first episode draws attention to the difference between Fry as he has to do a job to get by in the first part of the episode, do that same job with no choice in the middle, and then does that job a third time but on his own terms. it really goes to show you how much can change when you do a job that you WANT!

Great choice in shows! 10:53 (fan theory) Bender got reprogrammed to become the personality we see throughout the show after here. He originally was full of guilt after finding out he took part in the construction of suicide booths to the point of planning to use one himself. After that we see no remorse from him for any of his actions suggesting he was a completely different person before this point.

The dark thing about the suicide booths in Futurama is a theory somebody had. Maybe WickedBinge. Basically it was because the future world of Futurama presents a post scarcity universe, where people live well in excess of a hundred years, disease is all but wiped out, and medical treatment is on point, suicide is pretty much the only way to ACTUALLY die, and it's taken as an escape from the boredom of living for so long. No challenge. No variation. Everything is easy to get. They also theorized that the electricity from that wire altered Bender's programming and that's where he got his criminal personality from.

The show does have structure and is procedural but also can be pretty random. It kind of toes the line between the two. Definitely my favorite animated show of all time. Enjoy man. It's a wild fun ride.

The show has a continuity that spans the entire series including the movies. It never really jumped the shark but after the first run the mentality was different and each new greenlit bunch of content was jam packed with references and in jokes that almost require having seen the whole original tv run to understand.

Fox sure knew how to sabotage good shows- Back when they were trying to kill Futurama, they put it on at 7:00PM on Sundays- at the same time they had the NFL, NASCAR and Major League Baseball, thus ensuring that Futurama would be pre-empted by a sporting event on the east coast at least 40 weeks out of the year. Someone in scheduling really hated smart shows, or something, because it was at that same time that they killed Greg The Bunny by never putting it in the same time slot for two consecutive weeks. They also cancelled Family Guy around that time (Family Guy and Futurama both ultimately came back- Greg The Bunny didn't) and all the while running that awful Paris Hilton reality show four nights a week...

first episode is the worst episode. until you get to season 6, then all the rest of the episodes are worse than this but for seasons 1-4 this show stays pretty consistently good and 2 or 3 times there's a gold episode
