Future Calgary - New Library by 3XN Proposal

3XN designed the new Calgary Central Library as a place where de¬sign meets people in a new and appealing way, creating a place that supports the future of Calgary as well as its citizens’ dreams, desires and demands.
Understanding that the new Library is intended to act as a catalyst for further urban development in the East Village, 3XN’s design embraces the opportunities and challenges on the complex site, which include existing pedestrian circulation routes and con¬nections and the local transit system (LRT). The massing and overall design respect existing buildings and improve north-south connections, creating an animated streetscape.
