To be fair to trunks, he did believe that by tagging along, he was holding Gohan back a bit (he says multiple times that he won't hold him back anymore) and the one battle where he knew Gohan fought alone, Gohan was short a whole arm. So I am willing to cut the poor guy some slack 😂

Everybody talking about how the last stand thing was like Jiraya in storm 2, but I think a much better one is when peter has a last stand against Anti-Venom in "Spiderman Edge of Time". It really made you feel powerless as peter could barely throw a punch and was just wobbling around while you're controlling him, and at the same time 2099 spiderman is trying to rush and save him. By the time he gets there it's too late, 2099 spiderman holds Peter in his arms, and the title screen appears. Great music, great scene, great game.

Actually, Trunk's timeline is the 3rd timeline. The timeline that the Cell who killed Trunk's is from is the original, unaltered timeline. The timeline that HE went back to and changed is the unseen timeline, one that we know next to nothing about. Then that Trunk's was killed by Cell, who went back in time to a year before Trunk's went back, this creating a new timeline. This would be the History of Trunk's timeline, the one you're playing now. So, going further back in time than another time traveler has will create a new timeline that takes into account the previous time traveling(those events still occur). Then, the Trunk's in THIS timeline, the HoT timeline, goes back in time to save Goku and thus creates a new timeline since the Trunk's who originated from THIS timeline hadn't went back yet. This created the timeline that we all know, follow and love. All the events of DBZ post Frieda's attempted attack on Earth happen as normal. Bulma hears word of their tech being found, finds the time machine that Cell(who killed Trunk's/stole his time machine) used to come back and the exoskeleton of his larval state nearby. Later on, Cell reveals how he came back and that he killed Trunk's in his timeline. Trunk's then uses this information to evade Cells ambush in the future, and kill him after he's done with 17 and 18. There's any of this is making sense or not, but I tried to explain it the best way I could

I think a main reason as to why the game did it better was because we fought as the Gohan who had no more ki left to do anything to the androids, as they belittle us we feel that our end is neigh, we feel powerless as these monsters play a game with our life as they eventually decide to finish the job, this dear viewers is something we call, Narrative or what most say it as "Show don't tell".
