The most recent UN Habitat Report emphasises that “knowledge-based urban futures” are key to realising cities that are more sustainable, greener, socially equitable, healthy and economically resilient. And, despite an existing global market worth over $1 trillion, the value to be found in tech-imbued cities reaches far beyond financial gains.
What could urban life look like in the future? What will be the role of data in cities? And will AI work with citizens or against them? The Turing’s team on the Science of Cities and Regions leads a discussion on the future of cities, their populations, infrastructure, environment and policies.
Speakers:
Mark Birkin (Programme Director for Urban Analytics at The Alan Turing Institute)
Malka Older (Author and Faculty Associate, Arizona State University)
Kersten England (Chief Executive, City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council)
Tariq Khan (Chief Digital and information Officer, London Borough of Camden)
Anjana Ahuja (Science Writer and Columnist, Freelance & Financial Times)
