As soon as someone buys this book, I will have made 5 pounds. This sentences states that a person will have his 5 pounds only AFTER somebody buys his book. In other words, acquiring the money is the result of someone's purchase. How does it go with the "action will be completed BEFORE a certain event or moment of time in the future" rule? Could someone explain it to me, please?
@oxfordenglishnow3 жыл бұрын
Hi Roman, can you give me an example of what you mean?
@romanabdurakhmanov14783 жыл бұрын
@@oxfordenglishnow, we have a sentence in the video: "As soon as someone buys this book, I will have made 5 pounds." We have a rule, that Future Perfect Tense is used to express an action, that will be completed *BEFORE* a certain moment in the future. But in the example it is obvious, that a person will have his 5 pounds only *AFTER* somebody buys his book. So it is a sequence of events. Wouldn't it be a Future Simple then? "As soon as somebody will buy this book, I will make 5 pounds." If not, then why?

Mam, Hari was angry, so he kept quiet. & Hari was angry so he kept quiet. - - which sentence is correct and why? Please tell me
@oxfordenglishnow4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sourav, A comma should be used before these conjunctions: and, but, for, nor, yet, or, so to separate two independent clauses. They are called co-ordinating conjunctions. She was a fantastic cook, but she would never be as good as her mother-in-law. He hated his neighbours, so he never invited them round. Hope that helps! 🙏

Mam thanks for this wonderful lesson but I'm confused in how to make a presumption about the past and maybe to the present aspects? 1) Ohh don't call her she won't have arrived there yet 2) Why are going to school to take him... School won't have been over yet 3) The thieves will have entered the house in midnight Here I'm confused because the incident is over and i got news so should i use WOULD+ HAVE?? 4) By the age of 50 I will have been billionaire Now is this sentence incorrect? If it is then what's the reason because I can't figure out how it is wrong Thanks in advance 🙏
@oxfordenglishnow6 ай бұрын
I'll break down and provide corrections or explanations for each sentence: "Oh, don't call her; she won't have arrived there yet." This sentence is correct. It uses the future perfect tense "won't have arrived" to express a presumption about her arrival in the future. "Why are you going to school to take him? School won't have been over yet." This sentence is also correct. It uses the future perfect tense "won't have been over" to express a presumption about the completion of school in the future. "The thieves will have entered the house at midnight." This sentence is correct. When you have information about a completed action in the future, you use the future perfect tense, as you did here. There's no need to use "would have" in this context because you are expressing a presumption about a future event. "By the age of 50, I will have been a billionaire." This sentence is grammatically correct, but it might not convey what you intend. The future perfect continuous tense ("will have been") suggests a continuous action leading up to a specific point in the future. It implies that you will have been in the state of being a billionaire for a period leading up to your age of 50. If you want to express the achievement of becoming a billionaire by the age of 50, you might want to use the future simple tense: "By the age of 50, I will be a billionaire." So, the corrected sentence could be: "By the age of 50, I will be a billionaire."

@@oxfordenglishnow Thank you mam for your response but i want to know that my first two sentences convey my points that i want to say in the PRESENT MOMENT? I know I'm talking about a past event which it beyond my knowledge but i assume that it should be like that from the past to the present moment I'm thinking... Like that "school one" I'm talking about for the present moment that school isn't over yet but i can't use present tense because i haven't knowledge about whether the school is over yet or not so in the present should i use *WILL BE OR WILL HAVE BEEN? and what if i put MIGHT instead????*
