Never heard of Future Islands, this song was on a random curated playlist on Apple Music. This is the most mesmerizing song I’ve ever heard, I’ve NEVER heard anything as wild and beautiful as this. To boot, this guys vocals are so unique I just CAN’T stop listening to this on replay. Powerful is an understatement. I’m now a HUGE Future Islands fan!!!!!

Hello, this is the lady that was with her husband at History, Toronto. We fangirled/fanboyed super hard when we had the pleasure of meeting William Cashion. We also got to meet the bassist/singer of Oh Rose! They always say “don’t meet your idols” but my goodness was it perfect. William was exactly how I expected. Super humble, kind, funny and all around amazing guy. He could have easily waved to us and kept moving… but he took the time to chat with us for over five minutes and take pics with us!!! THEN CAME THE SHOW! My husband and I were front row..

Center to the most addictive, soul punching, and performative concert I’ve been to. The crowd were so supportive of my husband and I losing our freaking minds to be in the presence of Future Islands. We know every lyric, dance move and vocal inflection to every song. I think before the show we set lower expectations, knowing that regardless of the outcome its going to be one of the best experiences of our lives. BOY WERE OUR EXPECTATIONS BLOWN OUT OF THE WATER! Sam was otherworldly, Gerrit on the keys playing the music of my life, Mike “The Wolfman” Lowry bringing the drums

And William Cashion, the Peter Hook of my generation. People often ask me to put them in a genre category, and you just cannot. They are everything my soul needs, wants and desires. Pain in its darkest form paired with music that sends you into a trance. Personally I like that they remain “small”. I would never want to see them in an arena setting. Watching Sam’s Shakespearean performance is as important as the words he so perfectly sings. I quite literally fell to my knees when he would whip his voice like 2008, growl like cookie monster and sing to my soul. I am still running on adrenaline.

Sam’s vocals were other worldly in Toronto. He hit places I didn’t honestly think he could reach. His energy was on fire. Sacrificing his body to emulate the words coming out, the pain, anger, rage, and deep sadness paired with hope, self-reflection and growth. Not going to lie, if there was a time machine I’d move to NC or Baltimore when Art Lord and the Self-Portraits played house parties, but alas the present is perfectly perfect. Thank you for personifying my life. You made my husband and I’s day, week, month, year et all! Wish I had a way to thank you personally (William THANK U for the postcard)
