Fuzz Club Session: Holy Wave - Buddhist Pete

Following the release of the bands 2016 LP ‘Freaks Of Nurture, we invited the band to London to lay down a session. Despite still being steeped in a 60s Nuggets nostalgia the material on the session see’s Holy Wave ditch the Seeds-esque garage for a more washed out, reverberating psych-pop sound. The warm analogue recording creating a blissed-out echo chamber of sun-soaked psychedelia - recorded straight to tape and committed to the wax.
Limited to 500 copies. 100 on white vinyl exclusive to the Fuzz Club store. 400 on black vinyl. All on 180g vinyl and with printed inner sleeves.

Music history is littered with quality bands that "never quite made it". I hope Holy Wave don't end up in that category. A great band.

Within the current Psychedelic Rock scene they certainly "made it" a couple of years ago I'd say. They're pretty much a household name by now. Whether that's enough to live off of is debatable I guess. I wish them all the success they can get though and would be glad if someday they made it even bigger. For now, I'll be enjoying the long awaited album version of Buddhist Pete, out today on their new record Interloper! (Sound-wise I still prefer the Fuzz Club Session though. Top Notch Mixing and Production, as always!)

One of the things I like most is the purity of sound on these sessions as in my opinion general album versions are 'dumbed down' too much. Fuzz Club (and Tapetown in Denmark) set the standard in authentic reproduction of the organic nature of music without overproduction. The Holy Wave sessions are excellent and even include a bum note in one - which the drummer spotted - but that is live music for you.
