Hope everyone is doing well! A bit of a different episode, more story than work at times. Hope it's at least coherent (this is currently the longest series episode on this channel)! This is also the first time implementing credits for Patreon supporters. Let me know how you feel about it! We asked on Patreon and the decision was made that only those who specifically okay the use of their full names will appear that way, otherwise a first name and last initial will be used. Get in touch (replying to that post on Patreon would be easiest for the sake of organization) if you want your full name to appear or a different name than is shown. Special thank you to those Patrons but also to ALL of you for watching our videos!

@fuzzydiceprojects on gm trucks if you have a 4 barrel then not all the Jets and vents will work. On gms the carb power cord is for an 8 volt carb. You need to rewire it and either splice it to the windshield wiper power cord or straight to the battery. That's what I did and it solved most problems. I don't know if this is issue but It might help.

Hey man, I've been with the channel since the first few episodes of the blazer and I'd like to thank you for putting in the time and effort into making the videos. Because of you, I wound up picking up a cheap 87 dodge Dakota for 200 bucks and I'm in the process of bringing it back to life I'm hoping that it'll turn out like the blazer did (minus the rod knock from the old motor bit) Keep on doing what you're doing man, I know editing is a pain at times but I'm sure that if you make the videos that they will be watched

I've had carbs my entire life (including now) and this video is all the evidence I need that my love of fuel injection is well warranted. I may be putting the hex on myself right now by saying this, but I've spent, maybe 5% of the time trouble shooting EFI as I have carbs. I don't envy you in that situation.
@elesjuan
@elesjuan 5 жыл бұрын
EFI for life, yo! I respect carbs, and people like my brother and uncle who can tune a carb to actual performance levels with a pocket screwdriver and their ear, I'm more of a lambda sensor and laptop kinda guy myself. Thing is... you can leave the raunchiest gasoline sitting in an EFI engine for a decade, put new fuel in, crank it a few times and the thing will roar to life! I have a hard enough time keeping my lawn mower running... in fact, my love for EFI is so extensive, that I'm planning on fuel injecting my riding mower! Hell... when I decided I wanted to turbocharge my mazda miata in 2004, I bought a megasquirt kit and not only built my own EFI controller (it was a literal bare board and a box of resistors/capacitors/mosfets/diodes), but I wired and tuned it myself. What a fantastic experience that was! Nothing better than hearing people tell me how "it'll never run" and "that thing will do nothing but give you problems" to only experience YEARS of flawless functionality and the realization I actually built an 11 second mazda miata. I call it the "Hairdressers express." 2200 pounds, 300whp, 260 pounds of torque. What a treat this car is...

If you use Permatex Number 3 gasket goop, it stops gaskets from sticking and breaking like this, so you can open parts with a lot more confidence and re-use the gaskets many times over. It's fine for use in carbs. Just don't spill it in your toolbox, you'll never get it off, sticky hands forever. Anyway I'd put Permatex #3 on literally any non-metal gasket, even a head gasket.

@FuzzyDiceProjects
@FuzzyDiceProjects 5 жыл бұрын
I got it on sale for $50 (came with sockets, too) and at that price it's fantastic. Even at $100, it's probably a decent choice. It has a built-in battery and proprietary charging cable so I don't think it's exactly an heirloom tool, but it has worked great for me so far! Under normal conditions the battery lasts a very long time. I also actually like that it's a little weaker than some of the other brands, the newest Milwaukee one is unpleasant to use because of how hard it jerks your hand on a stuck fastener. Using it as a manual ratchet, it won't stand up to the claimed "150 ft/lbs" but 50 or so is totally fine. I have pulled on it hard enough that it feels like the body is going to explode off of it and it never skipped teeth.

Hey do you ever plan to add AC back into your S10? I know it’s hard to do so, but if you’ve got the compressor, it’s not *that* hard to pick up a conversion kit and a condenser. Or does the S10 still have overheating problems/ not enough space?
@FuzzyDiceProjects
@FuzzyDiceProjects 5 жыл бұрын
I don't think I'll ever add it back in, but who knows! There isn't a lot of space but there are options out there. It still will get pretty warm and overheat in bad traffic, but I have a larger radiator ready to go in that will hopefully take care of that part of it. A lower idle and better tune should also help a lot.

Not to criticize, only inform. The proper fuel pressure on any carb-ed chey ic 6.5 lbs. I own a carb shop and have 40 yrs experience. Also, the float clip could cause a problem. It does not go in that oval hole, it goes away from you on the flat part towards the float. From Rochester Service Bulletin. The accelerator pump cup is bad when has to be pulled out with a tug, due to e10 fuels. Also, that pump spring is actually the fuel filter spring. The real pump spring is longer. Well wishes! Stay warm

I missed why you pulled the TBI. I don't get why people hate TBI so much, compared to a carburetor it's light-years improvement. You're not going to make a ton of power with it but it's cheap and reliable.
@FuzzyDiceProjects
@FuzzyDiceProjects 5 жыл бұрын
I bought the truck with the 4.3L engine and TBI, pretty quickly had issues with the TBI system and tried everything but couldn't diagnose it. Pretty sure there was an issue with the computer. Ditched it for a carb, later the engine spun a rod bearing and the V8 was installed keeping the carb system. I got some of the TBI parts with the V8 I bought, but not enough to make it work and decided to just stick with the carburetors to keep things simple. "Simple."

Not being picky, but I was watching some of the other Qjet "professionals". They said the ear that dangles the needle over the seat was supposed to be in the center of the hanger. Not with the ear going into one of the holes. Not like I know for myself, as I am just starting to build my own. But what do you think or have you heard differently. I concur that it would seem the ear would latch into one of the holes, but in theory it would keep the needle to one side or the other by a fraction of an inch...

I’ve always been curious about this. Why did you go with a 350 instead of a 305? Considering that it would be easier to install in the truck. If this is a dumb question, I’m sorry, I’m a ford guy.
@FuzzyDiceProjects
@FuzzyDiceProjects 5 жыл бұрын
The 350 and 305 are the same external size, really the only difference is the bore diameter inside the block. Most of the parts (including cylinder heads) are even compatible between them. Not a dumb question! Based just on the numbers it would seem like the 305 would be a physically smaller engine.
