It actually depends quite a lot on the softness of the tires themselves. I ended up getting another set of tires after damaging the Tusks and they hardly conform at all to anything with the same green inserts. The stock tires are even worse, they are incredibly stiff and if I ever find a set of beadlocks that they fit I really want to try them with some extremely soft foams to see what they do (I wish there was a way to run them without foam/inserts because they are that stiff).

Nice comparison. My Beluga got Injora wheels and Tires and soft gel inserts, on top of other upgrades (Like Hobby wing brushless combo). Still well worth it I think.

And still ends up being less expensive with all that than a TRX4. Though the Redcat Ascent came out ready to rumble with the big boys and if it was out when I was looking, I may have ended up with it instead.

Nice comparison but i see not just the tire problem it's a not really good angles to crawl up rocks problem... in rock climbung finding the best paths is as important as a good tires and the car itself...

I have two TRX-4's and my "Broncluga" is on its way to me as we speak! How long have you had the HB unit and hows it holding up so far? How's the steering servo perform? I have the HW 2 in 1 systems on my TRX-4's, and will more than likely be doing the same on this rig.

After a couple outings the tires had to go, which is why I got the Tusks and beadlocks. I ended up replacing the servo after I realized it was only 3kg and I had a spare 25kg I took out of another car. I can actually turn the wheels under load now.

@@hikingphotog good to know! I think the biggest downside will be aftermarket support for the HB, as far as low mount brass and such. Other than wheels and wheel weights. Thanks for the info🙂

From what I could tell comparing bits, stuff like the entire portal assembly is swappable, just differences between how the inner and outer portals connect. Same with the whole axle assembly, exact same mount points for portals and links. So there are a lot of TRX4 parts that will work just fine on a HB. And if your diff breaks, you can just replace it with parts from the TRX4 Sport, which is what I ended up doing when I lost 3 teeth on my rear diff gear. Though the entire rear assembly of the HB (everything in between the wheels) was only $20, so at least I have a bunch of spare random parts now.

Does the bronco grill fit on the beluga? Half price trx4 is a great deal, hobbywing fusion and a nice set of wheels/tires and you’re still way less than a brand new stock trx4 bronco 🧐

I've heard it needed a little modification. Though if my brother didn't already have a Bronco and the parts weren't reasonably interchangeable, and I would have waited a bit longer, I probably would have just picked up a Redcat Ascent cause its $300 and extremely capable stock.

I actually bought a TRX4M buggy body and modified it for one of my other Redcats 18ths, it looks slick. I'm trying to put together a build video for it, the body was only $30 and because I did a really awful paint job the first time (I got the transparent panels), I also picked up a whole slew of 1mm clear acrylic sheets and re-painted them for $9.

I ended up buying JConcepts Tusks, they seemed to work pretty well, much better than stock.
