You are definitely making a whole lot of sense here...bit I wanna make one thing clear and that is....for a FVG to be of a higher probability setup ,it needs other confluences like support or resistance before the inefficiency leading to a BOS or COCH was created.... because the only reason why the demand zone works is because of it is also accompanied by a support or resistance level.

I apparently watched this video months ago and made a negative comment. Watching it again and really listening to his reasoning and logic, JE makes perfect sense. It's still challenging and frustrating to wait for structural shift, see the fractal shifting, and then not get filled as an FVG forms, doesn't fill newly created imbalances and then continues to run away to target.

Imbalance and FVG is the same. It's a 3 candle formation with a gap between first high and third low (for a bullish one) and first low and third high (bearish one). And like every concept in trading not all fair value gaps gonna hold. Sometimes its overlaps with an Order block that's why price get to fill the fair value gap or imbalance before rejecting. We have to take into consideration higher timeframe bias or orderflow if you like and see the bigger picture. 😊

Great analysis. For me the difference comes from the asset you're using. In ICT, that last upclose candle that created the bearish FVG is an Order Block. Gold often uses imbalance theory and trades from the order blocks and rarely leaves imbalances before hitting next liquidity targets. Indices do not play as fair and can often tap once, twice, thrice into an fvg and may never fill the imbalance completely or the same day if there is enough volume or news. They are both really a matter of perspective and risk and reward.

Awesome video. The last statement you made at the end of this video is so important. I would love to see it an entire video expanding upon that last sentiment.

The point is, that an FVG or IMB is not an area of high volume, it is vice versa. The only thing that a so called FVG can do is to turn a previous SnR level - which contains the volume - into the an untested level to trade from - Support becomes Resistance / Resistance becomes support. This is what the FVG traders are trading without knowing it - the volume on the left side of the FVG.

this is perhaps the best, fairest and clearest discussion of differences in real time with use of FVG vs. more simply "inbalances" (or "market inefficiences") . nicely done. now there are signficant differences in how "the draw on liquidity" is understood and analyzed (the focus on diff times as well as diff market conditions and their effects, i.e. FED speak days, key economic calendar days, etc. etc) then the more generalized approach of Wycoff supply and demand thinking. be great to hear you do similar tutorial , compare and contrast how to think in terms of analyzing for bias prior to taking a trade in the mkts (by that i mean how one implements these analytic tool sets to evaluate the general situation at the opening etc. etc.) -- (i.e. Smart Money Concept approach vs Wycoffian supply and demand approach). in any case, thanks again

That “imb” “demand area” is an order-block. Its what creates expansion to create FVGs. You’re actually marking zones incorrectly. @4:28 the last up close candle is the bearish order or “supple zone” the candle to the left.

What they do is to go inside the Daily FVG and see if there’s a 15M flip. Then the SL goes below that 15M structure point. So not exactly blindly put a limit order on the FVG regardless of the timeframe. Now if you refine too much down to a 1M or 5M flip, since now the risks are small, entering on the FVG in those TFs can increase your chance of getting in.

Im just new to trading and the first thing i got into is fvg/imbalances. And all the things you said in the video was exactly my problem when i was trying it. In particular, sometimes the price would only go to the gap formed and sometimes it would completely go the base of the fvg formed (supppy/demand zone). Just recently i’ve made a plan to make a distinction from the two. Im not entirely sure yet so feel free to try it as well. So i would consider it an imbalance, and would enter from supply/demand zone if, the imbalance is located in a swing high/low and the imbalance formed breaks the structure. I would consider it an fvg, if the gap formed is in the middle of an uptrend/down trend or there is no break of structure. And i would enter halfway in the fvg

I primarily trade order blocks/ imbalances. Do you feel that imbalances/ order blocks are a more guaranteed way of trading? What should you do if only the fair value Gap gets mitigated but the order block/imbalance doesn't get mitigated? Should I wait a month until it gets mitigated to trade off of it? The reason why I asked is because I've seen some imbalances not get mitigated for a long time

Is it a well-established principle that when an Initial Market Demand (IMD) or Fair Value Gap (FVG) is present in any stock, should the stock subsequently move significantly higher and surpass its IMD or FVG?, it is expected to retrace back to the IMD or FVG level. This retracement typically occurs to engage with the respective demand or supply zones.
