For Diesel Engines, there is many ways of killing toxic pollutants ( Hydrocarbons, Nitrogen Oxide and Carbon monoxide along Particulate matter). 1. By using a Diesel particulate filter ( Burns Soot and converts it in Carbon Dioxide), Combine with 2 way catalytic converter( burns Hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide) to give Carbon dioxide and water and With Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) which injects Ammonia to destroys Nitrogen Oxide by converting it into nitrogen and oxygen) finally there is also Ammonia Slip Catalyst which converts Ammonia into Nitrogen and Hydrogen... This is the most common arrangement for commercial vehicles and by far most complicated and expensive way to cut down toxic emissions...

Well i guess that puts a number on how long manufacturers design a car to last, 160,000km, roughly 8 years of driving and also the average finance term. Im at 350,000km on my 2000 audi

The video say 160000 km not miles, which is only about 100000 miles...
