FWC writes me a PILE of tickets for this while Fishing {catch and cook}

We're patch reef fishing and catching some fish until FWC stops us and writes me a bunch of tickets.

Here's a good lesson to always have your stuff up to date and working before you head offshore fishing, but alas FWC writes me tickets for a handful of things. Nothing like getting stopped by the FWC to spice up a video a bit =)

Before we got stopped by the FWC we had some fun patch reef fishing and also managed to do some vertical jigging. I caught a blackfin tuna, but it got ate by sharks and barracuda! Boo! That tuna would have been awesome for the Catch and Cook part of this fishing trip

Plead not guilty to those tickets and have a hearing. The judge will 100% toss 1-2 of those tickets for sure. Fix everything else that was wrong and show proof and they may toss everything.

@@dannyalley3753 Sounds like this FWC officer is already a d1ck so it won't matter for him, but it is better to fix the "infractions" to show good faith and keep your paperwork in order on the boat. He won't be able to avoid being stopped, especially when his boat stands out like it does, but at least he will have all his stuff fixed and paperwork in order. If the harassment continues, best to document (film) every encounter for future use, if necessary.

Do all the right things and stay legal. That Evinrude you had prior broke down so many times you could’ve been inoperable out after dark a bunch of times. I suggest you buy a new Coast Guard approved battery powered flare and never worry about expired flares again. You know you should have repaired your NAV lights the same day or the next day that you knew that were inoperable. Photocopy your license your registration boater safety card and store them in a ziplock in a safe out of the way place. Keep photos of all of the same on your phone in a labeled album for quick access. I get boarded a lot as well and have never had an issue. I am also a Coast Guard Veteran so it would be embarrassing to be cited for a nothing infraction. Better luck to you next time.

while I'm all for staying on top of stuff and staying current, writing a ticket for the registration location after he's been stopped and let go multiple times the guy could've issued a warning and said next time you get a ticket, issuing a ticket for no lights seems petty as well when he said it broke while they were out and he was gunna fix the wire that night.. to me there are times to write a stack of tickets and there are times to use your discretion and issue a few warnings to guys who aren't egregiously breaking the rules

Lights are required at sunset which is 30 minutes before dark, got to have your boat safety stuff in order, even if they needed probable cause you gave it to them by not putting your stickers on correctly as the directions clearly show. Why game wardens and water police don't have to have probable cause should be illegal but isn't

I got pulled over on a jet ski 5 minutes after sunset on the ICW here in SC one mile from the dock. I explained that I had busted my eardrum after falling off hauling ass and was limping back to the dock and I was in serious pain. I got a blue light escort to the dock with a have a good night and hope your ear is ok from them. I was shocked I didn’t get a ticket to make my day even worse 😳

I got one of those tickets 20 years ago. My complaint was that the boats previous owner docked the boat at his house just outside the creek that the marina the local police and DNR docked their boats. The numbers had been on the boat a good 5-7 years, and nothing was previously said. I purchased a couple sheets of heavy weight plastic and a new numbering kit, and was able to remove the sport fish license and registration stickers using a heat gun. Covered the stickers with heavy weight clear tape.

If you decide you need to put the numbers on the wrap, know that the numbers must be in a *contrasting color*, not necessarily black. You had said in the video that the black wouldn't show against the wrap, so you'll have to use a different color. There are several companies that will custom cut your numbers for you, in any of numerous fonts and colors, and you just apply it as one piece and pull off the backing, leaving the numbers behind. Easy, clean, and neat. I'm sure you know this, just saying.

Order white numbers they just have to be contrasting color. Probably have to order a new registration sticker they won't usually peel off and if so probably won't stick back. Better not get caught again till you get all that stuff fixed.

I haven't had any issues when I've been checked. I have always asked if that was good enough and so far so good. I guess it depends on the person too. I ended up getting an "electronic" Flare which takes 3 "C" sized batteries so I didn't have to keep buying Flares (I never used) because the arbitrary "Use By" date expired. It might also be helpful to know that you are also required to have a life-preserver attached to a rope readily accessible. Not sure how long the rope must be but I would assume at least 50 feet.
