You should call the biome a floodplain like how the land around the Nile is called the Nile floodplain. It sorta implies that the river floods every once and a while depositing water and nutrients in the soil allowing things to grow there

The callbacks to Papyrus and the first building with fwhip series are really nice to see. I remember being pretty sad at first when you decided you wouldn't continue working on it, but after the past year and a half of progress on this world, that sadness is long gone. I still feel nostalgia for it sometimes, like during the roads episode when you build the ruined fort (it reminded me of Eagleview Castle in the old world) and over the last few episodes with the desert-themed builds. But this world is coming along so well, and it's really amazing to see everything done on it. I can't wait to see where it goes next!

I think the biome color effecting the plants adds a nice touch even if it doesnt add the best of colors. It's like even though the river shore is lush, some of the plants don't get all of the water they need, or they aren't able to handle the heat as well as some of the other plants growing It's turns it into a lush environment that is thriving as much as it is struggling, and I love the contrast in that and the colors

I’m used to the idea of rivers running through desert-y areas making a system of floodplains (like the Nile river), so that would be my first instinct on what to name it. Oases, I think, are normally not in river systems, so Floodplains feels more “correct” to me. I am not an expert and this is a creative video game, so being “correct” is really more dependent on what sounds best to you, though 😂

why not use the azalea or birch leaves for the trees to get rid of the biome tint as theyre both unaffected? even spruce would wok better than the brown, surely? i mean i know its too late now but was using oak despite the tint a purposeful choice or just an oversight? im confused lol

Happy birthday fWhip. I really like what you've done to remodel the river emerging from a mesa canyon onto a floodplain, it feels very natural. I've been to several places which look a lot like that. IMO, the palm (?) trees need to be greener; Since they were able to tap into enough water to grow and thrive, I'd expect their foliage to also be more lush. Maybe use mostly 'browner' leaves for the low bushes (especially further back from the river banks), and rely on sugar cane for green highlights in the riverside ground cover? That would free up Azalea for the trees, though again, you could transition to more biome specific colours for stunted trees (not necessarily palms) which are struggling to thrive, further back from the river? Just my thoughts. Love your work.

Desertification is a natural process, so if you want to get 'tragic' with it, as opposed to 'lush desert', it could be a Desertifying Jungle/tropic/mesa/etc. So the river and lush parts are actually shrinking and slowly going away over time.

Put in clusters around the cactus? I might try it myself today and come back to let you know how it looks. But it might add some additional...texture? Green pops on the white sand or even the course dirt? Tucked up next to the walls of terracotta like its the cracks of the rocks?
