fx 9750GIII - Layout and Buttons

In this video, we give an overview of the calculator layout and how to navigate. We show you how the scroll bar is used to move between menu icons, the EXE button for selecting a menu, and how the function keys align to the functionality options within each menu. You will also see how to use the Shift and Alpha keys to use all the functionality of the front-facing buttons on the calculator.

Yes, you absolutely can solve inequalities with this graphing calculator. Graph Menu, then go to TYPE and you will see all the different types of inequalities - choose the type and enter your inequality. This is a great reminder that we need to make a how-to on that!!

On the fx-9750GIII, the "Financial" icon is listed as "TVM", which is short for "Time Value of Money".

If you are in the Financial/TVM icon doing Compound Interest, then there is no solve button. You would select the F1-5 key that is associated with the missing variable you are solving for.

Within any icon, press [Shift][Menu] for the Set Up Menu. Arrow down to "Display" and press [F4] for engineering mode.

how can i get a square root of a number? if i enter the square root of 17 and hit enter, it just shows square root of 17 and no answer .

If you are looking for the decimal form, press the [SD] button. This will toggle any answer between standard (i.e., square roots and fractions) and decimal form.

No wonder TI is the preferred graphing calculator. This thing is Paleolithic but I refuse to pay TI prices. Do you guys sit down and create proposals on how to make this thing as complicated as possible? Because the layout signals you hate the consumer.

You make some interesting points. TI seems to dominate in schools, and TI offers incentives to academia to keep that market going. Students are going to buy calculators that they learned on I suppose. I certainly agree that TI prices are outrageous, especially for the TI-84CE; it costs as much as TI's CAS calculator, the TI-Nspire cxii CAS. I find your last statement confusing. You are implying that the layout of the fx-9750Giii is not user-friendly, yet as I hold up a TI-83 grapher, I find the two keyboards to be about 90% the same. I will certainly agree that scientific graphing calculators, regardless of manufacturer, can be complicated to use. These calculators are basically hand-held computers, but have a very limited space to create the user interface, hence the multifunction keys and menu systems - again regardless of brand. What would be very helpful here would be to know is some specific problems that you might be having in using your Casio. There are tons of KZbin videos on using Casio calculators as well as a handful of websites dedicated to Casio calculators. If you stick with it, I think you will find as I did that Casio not only offers better prices, but adds considerably more functionality in their calculators than TI does. In the last five years, I have moved from TI to Casio, mostly because of the additional capability in their calculators, and at better prices than TI offers.
