Dude, I love that you called a spade a spade. It’s an incredible production rig. That said, I love the simplicity of my C70 rig and I try to influence in my inner circle of young Sony shooters that I can to switch, either way; everybody has their own sauce they love. And it’s all about getting paid to do what we love with a Gear we have. 🙌🏼

I agree on the dummy battery tip, however I run my setup with usb pmd power. Only downside is side is yes you still need a Sony battery in it which is not really a down side but I wish I had a cable clamp for the usb C portion like I do with HDMi. Solid setup . Love the ND ring !!!

Smallrig sells a dual cable clamp I put on cage that holds my USB C and HDMI cable (also use HDMI clamp on cage) but keeps them tidy and out of way.

One thing that is racking my brain is, how do you get that less digital ‘cinematic’ soft look like the Sony Venice and or Arri produces out of the FX3 without any filters? I currently use the black satin 1/4 which really helps but I’m wondering are you producing that look and feel in the edit alone plus of course using soft light?
@TenfoldProduction7 ай бұрын
A combination of everything. Lensing will help the most, vintage lenses with some light filtration does a ton. Some post work with a colourist helps too, if you can add some softening / blooming in post. Definitely start with lensing though.

@@TenfoldProductionthanks for the reply bud. I’ve been using Dehancer which really helps but just though there may be a cheeky cheat/shortcut to getting it in camera. Will defo try some vintage lens. 👍🏽🤟🏽

Super modest energy. 0 high stepping. Great video. Cameras are my “precious” and rigging them out is my Lego’s. I need them look as good as they function. My word is sexy. I show up and they say damn… that’s sexy. Yes it’s a tool and all of that but sexy. This rig gets the sexy stamp!!! Dude there is no link for the VND… please a little more info. Hey bro sick video ! Loved the in depth ness to this and the breakdown 😊 Quick question does that Smallrig baseplate just slot on the the Tilta cage just like that ? I have the full cage with that little QR plate on it does the small rig base plate slide on that or ? I’m just new to rigging so I’m struggling a little Thanks mate !!

Damn dude, what a beastly rig!! Totally relate to what you were saying about how shopping around for camera gear can get addicting. I spent a ton of time researching before buying my first camera (Sony ZV-1), and still occasionally find myself looking around. But the truth is, gear hardly matters. And sometimes, more gear more problems 😝 I actually ended up getting some cheap third party batteries for my ZV-1 and luckily they have been fine, but not sure if I would put third party batteries or a dummy battery in camera over 1k cost, let alone 4k+ 😜 Looking forward to see what you guys end up posting~ :)

I've been looking for alternative ways of powering the FX3 and I saw some setups that use a usb-pd that sends 9v 2a to the camera which is the recommended power as described in the FX3 manual (9v 2/3 amps) through the USB c input on the camera. There's even batteries and v mounts with a USB pd outout. Is that something you would recommend? I've been using a USB c method that only has 5v, and even though it charges the camera battery, the battery still drains (although a lot slower). Just wondering what your thoughts were.
@georgerohde32812 жыл бұрын
Yeah i even talked directly to sony germany and they dont have a real solution to that. I power mine through a v-mount plate with a 8v pin output to a dummy battery. It works, but i would love a usb c pd solution so i dont have to shut down the camera every battery change (and it always displays a "not original sony battery" warning wich pops up after 15 seconds). The only thing i could find is a pd adapter from tether tools, but it is cumbersome to rig it in a nicely manner, as it has no mounting options (u could use velcro). I hope some one comes up with a d-tap to usb c adapter that has good mounting options.
