Thank you for your helpful videos for the FYF😊! This will be my first knitted item (I normally crochet) in 1year since my local yarn shop closed and no one else can teach me knitting😱. This is my first time using your patterns and it’s very well written for a beginner like me to follow 👍🏼

Thank you. I love that you also demonstrate continental style as well.

I really appreciate you showing English style. I know how to knit Continental but it hurts my fingers!

Your videos are very good. I hope you can help me with the problem I'm having with the FYF shawl. I've started and frogged this pattern four times now. I'm an experienced lace knitter, having done Orenburg, Faroese and Shetland laces. I keep running into problems reconciling my row and stitch count based on the notes you have at the end of each section of the FYF pattern. I think the problem occurs when I reach the midpoint of the rows with the sl1-K2tog-psso stitch. The lace pattern is a 3-stitch repeat. On each pattern row, you knit the pattern until you are 4-2-3 stitches (respectively) from the marker, and then follow the instructions for the center. So, here's my question: When I reach that point in each row (i.e., 4-2-3 stitches from the marker), should I have completed a full, 3 stitch pattern just before reaching that stitch? OR will the 3-stitch pattern sometimes be incomplete when I reach the mid-row point of the shawl?

Hi Andrea, I’m working the Find your Fade shawl and have excess stitches. How can I adjust pattern?

Is there a reason why you drop the yarnover in section nine? Instead of just elimanating the yarnover alltogether?

Thank you so much for the video! I'm new to lace and definitely needed the visual help I do have two more questions, (1) in section two, is row 4 jus a repeat of row 2 and 6? and (2) on rows 1, 3, and 5 why do the number of stitches to stop before the marker change? Again, thank you very much. I can't wait to wear this shawl!!
@dreareneeknits7 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you look by Row 2 it says and all WS rows, which includes row 4 :) The stitch count changes because of the shawl shaping, which effects the lace repeat. Happy knitting!

What do you do if you drop a stitch or miss one so the count is off? I tend to zone out when knitting and this happens to me all the time, so I have to unravel and it drives me nuts!

Hi Andrea, do you always ssk knitwise?
@BekSalmon7 жыл бұрын
This is probably a very stupid question, but do you do the row in half English, half continental to demonstrate two options? Or are we supposed to switch midway through as you do?
@dreareneeknits7 жыл бұрын
Bek Salmon not stupid at all! I only did two different ways to demonstrate for both English and Continental knitters ☺️ You can just stick with one way!

In section 2 , you say 69 stiches in the end ..will it be total ? so it means 34 on one side and 35 on the other?

I'm already planning for a second FYF. I have considered only one YO in the lace but worried about tension issues from the garter. Does the lace block out clean? I feel that mine looks a little sloppy on the right side.
@dreareneeknits7 жыл бұрын
You can absolutely just do one yarnover. If you are a looser knitter, I would suggest it so that your lace looks tidy! It should block out great!

for reasons unknown i have 25 before marker 26 after. is this going to be a problem later or just make it up as i go?
@dreareneeknits7 жыл бұрын
Make sure you are counting on the Right Side of your work. If it is still off then yes, you will want to start again so that you have the correct stitch count on both sides :)

I’m on Section 6, with 187 stitches on my needles, and I can’t reconcile the lace play part of the pattern here to end up with 3 stitches before the marker, as the pattern states. I’ve worked it 3 times over now, and it still doesn’t come out properly. I’m very frustrated. This is a tech question. Please help. Thanks!
