Dirceu - 20 goals in Serie A (Verona, Napoli, Ascoli, Como, Avellino 1982-1987)

Dirceu José Guimarães, known as Dirceu, born 15 June 1952 in Curitiba (Brazil). He died at only 43 years old (1995) in a road accident. 134 games and 20 goals in Serie A, playing as midfielder with Verona, Napoli, Ascoli, Como and Avellino, from 1982 to 1987. He was famous for his powerful left foot and his dangerous free kicks.
With Brazil he scored 7 goals in 44 international games (from 1973 to 1986), taking part to 3 consecutive FIFA World Cups (1974, 1978, 1982), finishing 4th in 1974 and 3rd in 1978.

What a great player he was !!!! With such powerful long range shots....and I loved him so much...BUT NOW NO ONE TAKES HIS NAME...I didn't know already he had PASSED AWAY ....SO PAINFUL TO ME ....RIP DIRCUE....

I remember -_Dirceu with Verona Hellas club in the year 1982-83 and I seen him versus Inter in Milan january 1983 . Beautiful balltouch and shoot ! Genius and recklesness !

With Dirceu, Eder, Rivelino, Zico & co, the Brazil team from the late 70s early 80s and especially the 1982 world cup team was by far the best and most entertaining Brazil team i ever watched, and easily the best team never to have won the world cup.
