I go back and forth about doing a notch on my 87 G...a 275/60/15 with a 8" wheel, 4" backspace fits fine with a rolled lip. The desire to go to a 295 or a 315 exists but we see that a 275 goes low 4s and well into the 7s . Also,with a big tire the rear needs to be strong as well to survive,imho. A big tire does look cool though.

Not sure if you’ll see this but I have 275/60/15 on an 8in. Rubs with a 4.5” but I bought a 1/2in spacer. Should I expect it to fit?

@@Se7enthsonSS 1/4" space should work ,,possible lip roll though?

@@brianmathew09 I’ve still got some room on fender lip. But I do have drop coilovers. I can roll fender if needed. I’m trying to avoid a notch I just don’t think I can at this point

i have the same set up on a 275 ona 9”, rolled lip too . i’m notchin to try and attempt that 315 ! but i don’t have the tires for it yet . figured it’s best to attempt when i have the 315 tire on rim to test fit i might have to cut trunk wheel wells

@@betosgarage Since this post, 2yrs ago, some things i found and should be considered ...all that rotating mass is a sizeable weight to turn and will slow the car down nless you have some serious Hp to haul it. I know it looks cool af but cars making 7-800 whp can make a 275/60/15 as fast.

I had the same done to my 83 El Co then had it powder coated, hopefully be done in a yr...

If you take the if take the left on the right I think 🤔 it would have worked as you planning

If would have swap the passenger bc and driver side pieces they would have fit

They didn't fit which is why I didn't do that. I thought the same but the angles didn't line up.

Those pieces you cut out could be flipped from one side to the other. Then they would fit properly.
@Dom87SS3 жыл бұрын
If they're both cut to the same size, then yes.
@arthurperez7053 жыл бұрын
Forgive me if someone else made the suggestion or you're done with this part but could you swap the lives that were cut out from left to right to use the sweep of the frame? I'm getting ready to do the same and wasn't sure if it would work.
@Dom87SS3 жыл бұрын
It possibly could have if I cut the exact same size out but after doing it, think it was easier to box in with plate.

I have a 83 monte carlo and want notch frame but want to do it in car is it possible
@Dom87SS3 жыл бұрын
I don't have personal experience doing it but I have seen a lot of people do it that way. There are several companies that sell the kits where you can cut the outside off and weld in a new piece if you don't want to use the factory frame section to weld back in.

couldnt you invert it and use it on the other side and vica versa?
@Dom87SS3 жыл бұрын
It's they were cut exactly the same, then potentially. But since it was already notched they weren't identical side to side I couldn't.
@FACEBOOKS-WBDS2 жыл бұрын
I know it's a little late now but, if you would have cut both sides the same. you could have used each other side fliped and they would have durved the correct way....just saying
@scottshields83343 жыл бұрын
the outside of the frame could have been left were it was then angled less so you don't have that hard corner and a lot less cutting
@Dom87SS3 жыл бұрын
I realize that and that's why I explained that I could put it on a 45° angle. But ultimately that's not what I wanted.
