G body HVAC box. Things that can cause issues

Just showing some things that could be wrong with your G body, Malibu, Cutlass, Regal, Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, Century, etc. For your center vents to work, the 2 plastic vacuum lines must be hooked up. Gray to heater valve and purple to engine vacuum in conjunction with a round vacuum canister

is it worth trying to keep the current hvac box on my 81 ElCo? my other option would be to buy a delete plate and mock up an aftermarket all electric hvac box for a 72 like from classic auto air

Replace heater valve and be sure gray vacuum hose is connected. The purple goes to a vacuum source

I’m having a problem with hot air coming through the bottom vents driving down the highway checked the 4 spots you pointed out and all are good. Anything else it could be ?

I'm having the same issue... I've come to determine it's either the heater door actuator, or the door is stuck. Actuator is at the bottom left of the assembly, just above the driver's side foot vent.

Do you mean air conditioner not blowing cold air or the blower motor not working? If blower not working, check the black plastic connector behind passenger side valve cover on firewall. The wire could be melted. Pull connector apart and clean connections. This is common

I think you can get your hand down there. Use your finger and scoop it out. From the front between the box and inner fender. If not, remove some of the inner fender bolts at rear.

Pull it upwards while twisting it. It’s comes out at a certain angle pull up on it while you twist

Im taking out that stupid rubber vent/door. All it does is serve to trap the dirt and debris. Mine was actually sealed from the years of gunk. I don’t see a point to even leave that rubber vent in and keep it from flapping open when water goes down there. The water flow will never be strong enough to flow out that rubber vent, all it does is traps dirt. What a crappy design. Thx GM
