Three more INCREDIBLE facts about the king: 1. He literally invented the South Korean trend of "airport fashion." It was not a thing before he made it one. Now all celebs do it. 2. He invented the trend of light sticks at K-pop concerts and even designed the very first one for Bigbang. 3. For many years, due to political tension, China banned South Koreans from being featured in advertisements. G-Dragon was the first celeb they allowed back in after years and as far as I know, he is still the ONLY SK celeb allowed to be featured in Chinese advertisements. G Dragon is 33 years old and has been in the music industry for at least 26 years. He was a noted song writer when he was 20 years old. Became a Superstar and the King of Kpop by the time he was 25 years old. he worked his ass of to get their as he was working daily until 2018 when he went into the military for his time to serve as this is mandatory for all Korean men. He took the last 2 years off for himself. He really needed a break. he doesn't need the money or acolades but he loves music, art and his fans.

wow one video isn't enough to appreciate the G-DRAGON tbh. like he's the many firsts in kpop industry. the first idol who produces, inspired many. he created the first lightsick that isn't just like a long popsicle, and many more. K-HipHop artists usually hate idol rappers but they respect G-DRAGON a lot (prolly the only idol rapper they like). rappers in idol group are usually just members who can't sing but BIGBANG is different. ever since BIGBANG so many new groups are influenced, having an actual someone who can rap in the group and their types of music were bigbang-ish. there's this famous saying in kpop fandom that everyone knows, *"if your bias isn't G-DRAGON, doesn't matter, cause your bias' bias is G-DRAGON."*

Ah, they were my first k-boy band I liked and was introduced to. I remember doing a random download on zamob and then listening to one of the songs 'Lies' and just totally vibing even tho I didn't know what they were saying and I listened to it so much that I ended up looking up the lyrics and then more songs by BIGBANG and after that I was lost... I became a crazy fan of everything korean because loving the music wasn't justice, I needed to know the culture to understand the music even without English lyrics. Best random decision of my entire life. 💜

Especially when you look at Infinite Challenge - all 3 years where they invited different writer/producers to create songs for the contestants - he was able to create 3 distinct songs that suited his partner. He took their ideas and made it theirs, suiting their personality and elevating their performance - and each song was crazy popular after the show.

My personal insight is KPOP is a small word for such a huge musical industry and I don' care if they got trained it's still them they worked their butts off. While in the western world we have X factor that churns out some of the most god awful singers ever. G Dragon I knew about a long time before I came into the rabbit hole of K POP which was back in 2020 on our first lockdown. Dragon is the KING of all IDOLS they hero worship him. Lisa has stated on many interviews that her IDOLS were Dragon and CL which is why she signed for YG. Lisa was the first foreigner to be signed. Dragon was a muse for karl Lagerfeld. Judging by there comeback he hasn't lost it. I did see a clip on KZbin that when he and the rest of the guys had to go into the military he was concerned that the fans would forget him. AS IF !! He came out after his two year stint and waiting for him outside was over 3 thousand fans who had come from all over the place to show him he wasn't forgotten.

The list of people who got to colaborate with Nike is short but the list of artist who got to design their own shoe model and not just personalise an existing model is even shorter . NIKE put Peace Minus One on the same level with their brand . They even changed their Nike registered trademark for GD . GD designed a completely new shoe in 2021 the Kwondo . His real name is Kwon Ji Yong . GD is a big fan of Nike . He waited for many years for this colab to be true . He waited despite other brands offering him colaborations . And another thing GD got this offer despite being inactive since 2018 . Officialy speaking he would not generaly be considered at the hight of popularity .

Correction: YG values Individualism. The artist are allowed or even encouraged to express themselves they way they want. Style isn't determined by the agency. Far from it. This shows in music too. The groups are trained to write music, arrange it, choice outfits, make up choreo from early trainee days. This is evaluated each month. YG gives tools but the trainees cam use it as they see fit.
