This song is about how the young people fighting against the hardship just because of their dream and sometimes just ask himself... how should I “exist” or survive

as a 40-year-old man. I haven't heard Deng Ziqi's any other songs, but I listen to this song so many times, I get goosebumps every time. . .🤣and this song gives me power🙂

Very nice reaction. Great observation and comments. Everyone only sings own song at first appearance, then covers for the rest. So this song is from a famous China rock singer. The theme is about people in society, trying their best in career, struggling between making a living / surviving and going for dreams / remaining true to oneself. It's quite touching and meaningful reflecting challenges and mixed feelings of people. Then the comments from other singers, some friends explained earlier, it's like praising with surprises as she wasn't well known in mainland China at that time up to this second round. She then made a great hit harvesting national wide popularity from then onwards, up to now as one of the most loved singers in the region. And yes, she does deserve more world wide, as a treasure,a real gem.

The first song is her own song (written & lyric by her) then the rest in this program are all covers (rule of the program)

I agree that the first song you reacted to was better for her. I do enjoy listening to her and she reminds me a bit of So Hyang (without the range). She's most likely capable of much more than we have seen so far. There's something about her that brings confidence in her future.

Here is a GEM's performance better than the previous one you reacted to. The vocal power and the intensity are there. The originality is not very obvious... but it's pop. OK ! About her qualification of "most popular singer", say that GEM is one of the most popular Chinese female singers... among a few dozen like Coco Lee, Faye Wong, Hebe Tien, Jolin Tsai, Chen Kelly, Qu Ying, Sammy Cheng, Tian Zhen, Vivian Chow, or the huge Teresa Teng, or just our friend Laure Shang (who was considered the "Chinese Lady Gaga") . It's obvious the fans of each singer will tell you she is "the most famous". China is a big country, and according to regions, ages, styles, "the most famous" will not be the same. It's obvious too, young people will say GEM is the most popular. But their parents will say it's Anita Mui... You know what I mean ! 😉 About the winner of this "I am a singer 2014", his name is Han Lei. He comes from Inner Mongolia, like Tengri, Daiqing Tana, A Yun Ga, Hanggai, and so many others. Continent Zero Fan comments about who is the most popular... yes, is very subjective. But for G.E.M. case there are tons of objective factors. 1) Her Light Years Away is the number one Chinese song. This is supported by KZbin figure. 2) She was named by Fortune US 3 years ago the World top 30 under 30, the only Asian so far 3) She was named by BBC as 2018 World 100 Woman 4) 2017 she ranked the World top 10 female singers concert 5) She is still holding the most number of concerts by female Chinese singer in one tour 6) Her KZbin views is more than all artists from the two biggest music company in Hong Kong ..... with all these achievements she is still 28!

@@chinglimwong GEM is certainly very popular. No question of denying it. But just look at the Wiki of some other singers (eg Coco Lee I just watched) and you will find a big list of "objective factors" too. On the other hand we are talking about female singers from Hong Kong, often very well known in the West. Of course there are exceptions (such as Laure Shang) but generally the mainland singers has less access to the World Top or the BBC... which reduces their objective factors' list, without indicating they are not popular in China. In short, it's not easy to quantify celebrity.

Continent Zero l Let alone who is better. If we are talking about popularity Coco vs G.E.M. FB followers 90,000 vs 1.90 mil Weibo followers 10 mil vs 32 mil There are two main differences, Coco Lee has a lot of English songs while G.E.M. concentrates in Cantonese & Mandarin. Coco does not write her own song while over 95% of G.E.M. songs are written & lyric by herself. Coco recent hit “Broken” is actually a gift from G.E.M.

@@chinglimwong Coco was just an example (chosen because she was first on my list). I just wanted to say the celebrity criteria are difficult to establish. Only a survey of a representative sample could answer the question. But I admit that GEM has a lot of assets.

hiya Israeli Guy... well, the nodding is more a half bow/half nod to.....the fellow musicians on stage. As a sign of respect, that even though they are the accompaniment, they are still recognized and appreciated by her. And yes, in a way, it's an Asian thing.. :)
