Fuck, my girl showed me this song about 7 years ago. She said this was our song. We spent years on the street chasing alcohol and drugs. It was just us together, she was literally the other half of me. 5 foot 3 and 100 pounds of gorgeous, sweet as hell woman that you would never want to cross. She had zero fear and had my back no matter what. We both wound up in prison at the same time. Our state didn't allow people to write prison to prison so my brother would boomerang letters so we could write eachother. Listening to this and fuck these lyrics describe her perfectly. We both got out, did the halfway house thing, staying clean. She had longer parole because she had done more time, i was on intensive probation meeting with probation each week to plan the next 7 days, then write a schedule to give him that I had to follow. If i was 5 minutes late somewhere he could violate me and send me back for 5 years.We weren't supposed to see eachother while on paper and could have both been sent back if caught together, and there were pages and pages of incident reports on file of us getting into trouble together. So we took some time apart. I got a call that she had been run over and killed by some drunk piece of shit. I had forgotten about how much she loved rhis song because it reminded her so much of us until it just came on randomly. I had to pull over and park because it felt like I had a car parked on my chest. Like my heart was being squeezed and I couldn't breathe in. I just got back a part of her I'd completely lost.
