Why is everyone commenting on a mezzo soprano? The lower part is comfortably within a typical soprano range - no need to typecast the singer into something that perhaps she is not. Handel, when he wrote this, did not really care much about what kind of singer was singing this, heck he did not care about singers at all, treated them as another set of strings.
