Welch gefühlvolle Interpretation, wer das nicht fühlt, dem ist nicht zu helfen.

I wonder if these Artists use these recitals to hone the characters they play. In a full Opera, there is so much to do, energy must be saved for certain pieces so others can't be completely expressed, even major pieces, like this one, need to be regulated so the next piece can be expressed and so there is diminishment. As there is here only the parts sung in isolation, could this be the "Big chance" to go all out with that aria and make for perfection which will, in turn, affect the performance in the full opera? Rehearsal is a honing of the many parts, but that's where the energy balance is learned rather than the fullness of expression. Watching this lady and Pavarotti sing their parts much better in recitals than in the actual opera made me think about this. Putting that much energy into one small piece would leave an energy void for the rest of the part. Just a thought.
