Dr Pervez Hoodbhoy should leave Pakistan and emigrate to USA or India where he will be respected. W is the most Merciful (raheem) and Generous (kareem), so if one has Iman even as the size of a grain ,he will surely enter jannah after being punished according to his/her sins. the criteria of punishment is not like that if you have conduct a mere sinful act ,you are gonna rot in hell for eternity! For example, a murderer who killed 50 innocent people but served with death sentence for just killing one person. He would be punished for committing 49 murders in hell and after this Allah may grant him jannah if that person hasn't been involved in any other major even if he has a slightest speck of Iman in his heart. Moreover, if a non-muslim who did not receive true teaching of Islam in this world, probably he will be granted by jannah as Allah is extremely merciful. So if u have this much belief in the existence of hell, then its better to teach yourself about Islam by acquiring authentic information from Quran and sahi hadees not via media channels and other sources. The news anchor seems talented which is rare now a days. Regarding gender representation, Its always better to follow the religious and cultural views of the country. So it nothing wrong in showing girls in hijab or burka. That's a part of the religion and culture you follow. It should not be changed in the name of gender stereotyping / representation. (Jo tumhare majahab aur culture ka hissa hai wo apanane me kya problem hai? gender stereotyping / representation ke naam pe use badalna nahi chahiye.) Lastly, religious teaching / preaching should not be a part of educational curriculum. As correctly mentioned by Dr. Hoodbhoy, why should non-Muslims learn Muslim religious teachings? (Majahabi baate school education ka hissa nahi hona chahiye. Gair musalmaan use kyon sikhe?)

Don't know why dr maryam is having a defensive attitude when it comes to defending hijab and why do pervez hoodbhoy think that wearing veil restricts women from acheiving their goals. But let's say if it is the case then its root cause is religion then point that out. Obviously women wear hijab cause it's mentioned in the Quran otherwise why would they need to wrap themselves up and similarly for men wearing beard is an order as per islamic teachings. As mentioned in a hadeeth "A momin is like the camel whose bradle is controlled by its owner" That means that if u follow islam then ur personal views or opinions dont matter simply cause u r not following ur thinking or intellect but a pre organized religion or knowledge and if u dont aceept things in islam to be right then u have every right to revert to any beleif u want to beleive but u can't criticize the Islamic teachings and at the same time calling urself follower of islam.. To not keep up with certain things is a different issue like some women dont wear hijab and some men dont wear beard but they beleive it that its not the right way but if u think there is no need and all this is just hypocritical and far from reality then u r being cruel to urself why r u risking ur entire life on something which u dont beleive to be true.. So please, with respect, dont be hypocrite and poke the real root issue which u think is

And btw it can be a personal opinion but i think the root of all our problem or most of our problems is illiteracy. Education actually teaches us our (human) position in this world and universe and it unveils the dark and bright pages of human history in front of us. If we can learn about other philosophies and other religions and their teachings we ourself can think for ourself which to choose then we will be able to defend our narrative but the problem here is that we are not taught these things and so it gets difficult to receive criticism and being pointed out on something wrong.. And one more thing we will have to agree upon is that as a nation we dont have patience to listen to others opinions we just want to impose what we think and want others to follow too
