Great fun to hear G.G. hit those high notes. And Gregg Martinez is playing on G.G.'s trumpet!

Just a week ago my BF and I were talking about The Palace Guards. I was engaged to the organ player and his brother was bass. I sat behind the band (growing up) for “years.” My GFs and I found out about this man, G.G. SHINN AND THE ROLLERCOASTERS playing st the Sands in Metairie/New Orleans. My fiancée’ let me take his car from where they were playing and the girls and I would go see G.G. Horns were getting popular (Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears), and my finacee’s band was fantastic but were more English Beatle type. I wanted horns! We discovered this man. Wow! How and why he didn’t make it bigger is beyond me. - So anyway, i was looking up old bands and plugged in G.G. on one KZbin G.G. had a cane. I said Oh no! WTH! So I got online and saw he passed away in 2018. He really got heavy. He was so lean way back then. Anyway he seems so happy singing here. Never lost a smichon of his voice. He was so fantastic. I’m sick over this. And back then, WOW, what showmanship. 💔. Wonder what the horn players will do without him. They’ll never find another one like G.G.

Thanks for your comments. There will never be another GG. I am just now learning of his passing and am so saddened by it. We enjoyed GG countless times in many places with many different groups. He was such a great, soulful singer with such a beautiful and amazing range and always a great time. We all miss you, GG, but know that you are in Heaven. I would say may you rest in peace, but no one would believe you would ever want to rest. You're probably doing gigs all over Heaven with the many other great cats up there. Peace!

@@rickb1408 Rick, Do you know if anybody has any video on GG and the Rollercoasters at the Sands on Jefferson Hwy in Jefferson Parish? Could have been Orleans Parish. The Sands was right on that borderline. That’s where I met him. It was in the early 70s(?) to mid 70s(?). I’m sick over this. He really got huge. I’m just shocked. Looked like he was happy until the end.

GG would probably want me to tell you all not to cry (too, too much) for the crying man. You know he wants us all and to remember ...woodpecker peckin' on his front door. He pecked all night... We miss you old friend. Rest in Peace!

I was discussing with friends just very recently, and I think the first time I saw GG perform was 1971. He was the best. May he rest in peace!
